I have seen many Sikhs carry Kirpans like the above, they are blunt, and the handle is too small. It's a joke really, just a piece of metal to me.
Most of the kirpans have the curve near the point; this makes it ineffective to stab. This curve designs are traditional horse back kirpans, and were used for slashing when on a horse in the battle field. The curve design is effective on horseback.
