Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji thrown out of flat window!

New Delhi (KP) — A New Delhi Sikh was attacked by neighbors and the Saroop of Guru Granth Sahib in his house was thrown out in the street after the landlord evicted the Sikh’s family from their second floor apartment in the State Bank Colony near Gurdwara Nanak Pio Sahib.

The Sikh’s apartment had already been emptied due to the eviction but Guru Maharaj’s Saroop had not been moved due to a family emergency. But before this Sikh tenant could bring five Singhs to retrieve the Saroop, the Landlord, Ravi Singal removed the Saroop from the premises and tossed Guru Sahib in the street. The builder, along with nearby neighbors, also physically attacked the Sikh, leaving him battered and bruised.

As the local Sangat found out about this attack, hundreds of Sikhs gathered around the complex, and respectively removed the Sacred Saroop of Guru Sahib. Along with members of the Delhi Sikh Gurdawara Management Committee, they attempted to pressure the local Police to register a FIR complaint against the landlord and local neighbors. The Police declined to take such action against both.

After the Police inaction, hundreds of Sikh youth took it upon themselves to punish the perpetrators and ransacked the builder’s property during the late evening.

A Attack on Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a knife wound to every Sikhs heart it will not be tolerated, even if the whole Sikh community has to be murdered by our enemies as a consequence!

SSP saw Akal Takth Jathedar Kaonke 'tortured to death'

Fresh evidence has emerged on the alleged murder of former Akal Takht Jathedar Gurdev Singh Kaonke inside a Jagraon police station, with a serving Senior Superintendent of Police's "eye-witness account" in a new book.

The SSP in a recoreded interview - reproduced by human right activist Ram Narayan Kumar in his book "Terror in Punjab: Narratives, Knowledge and Truth", scheduled for release on April 19 - disclosed how the Sikh priest was "tortured nearly to death" inside Sadar police station in his presence. And how sympathetic cops were humiliated by interrogators, including two senior Punjab Police officers with one of them now as SSP and another on deputation with the Union Government.

He claimed the then SSP of Jagraon, Swaran Singh, decided to kill Kaonke as he wanted to get his transfer deferred. Swaran Singh has denied the charge, saying interviews in a book carry no weight when the Supreme Court has already disposed of all petitions related to the Kaonke case.

The book covers the Punjab conflict with case studeies. While reproducing the transcript of the interview with the SSP, the authro has not disclosed his name. Kumar, who is also Convener of CCDP (Committee for Coordination on Disappearances in Punjab), has been working with Tapan Bose, secretary general of the South Asia Forum for Human Rights (SAFHR), on human rights violations in Punjab and Kashmir over the past few decades.

The SSP says on January 1, 1993 evening, he saw Kaonke being "huddled" on the floor of a cell in Sadar police station. "He had twisted himself into a knot... Immediately, Swaran Singh (the then SSP, Jagraon) had kaonke's blanket removed and DSP Sodhi and another cop, Channan Singh started kicking him. When blood started flowing, Swaran Singh look at me and said" "Twade Jathedar da peshab nikal gaya (Your Jathedar has peed).

A Real Jathedar

I came across this on the internet and reading it, reduced me to tears, thinking what our Gursikh veers and penjis and indeed our Gurus themselves have done to maintain sikhi, to give us the religous freedoms we enjoy today. If only we had a Jathedar like him today in charge of Sri Akal Takhat Today .

In the Jagraon District of Punjab is a very blessed village called Koanke. The Master of Miri Piri, Sahib Siri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji blessed this village stating diamonds would be born from this village. Guru Ji stated this when he rested at the village on his journey to the Sind region. When he stayed at Koanke village, one of its resident Gursikhs, Bhai Hira ji did keertan seva. Guru ji was very moved by the keertan and at this point stated in a 'Bachan' that many more diamonds would be born here.

So it happened, aswell as Bhai Hira Ji, Sardar Sham Singh Attari, the Great Mata Kishen Kaur Koanke, Bhai Gurdev Singh Koanke, and many countless young Gursikhs who have given all to the Sikh struggle, all were born in the village Koanke.

The list of names that stood by the mission and ideologue of Baba Jarnail Singh Bindranwale from this village is long, but one name stands out. That name is Jathedar Gurdev Singh ji.

Bhai Gurdev Singh was born in 1949 in house of Bhai Gurdial Singh and Mata Chand Kaur ji. Bhai sahib`s grandfather was Jathedar Totha Singh, who was a companion of Baba Nand Singh ji of Nanaksar. Hence Gursikhi was a part of the family tradition.

At a young age, Bhai Sahib was blessed with Amrit at the Siri Akal Thakhat Sahib. Bhai Sahib`s worldly education was only up to level 6. However he continued to study in his religious study at the Damdami Taksal. He was tutored by Baba Vir Singh Madoke and Giani Inder Singh Badniwale, both of whom were companions of Baba Gurbachan Singh Khalsa. From here Bhai Sahib began to do seva of katha of Sahib Siri Guru Granth Sahib and Dasam Granth.

Due to the fact that Bhai Sahib inherited considerable land, his family needs were always satisfied, and therefore Bhai sahib always did katha in a Niskam nature.

In 1970, Bhai Sahib`s Anand Karaj to Bibi Gurmel Kaur happened. Before the Anand Karaj, Bibi ji took Amrit and adorned a Keski.

Bhai Sahib was a very strict Gursikh and followed the practice of Gurmat Bibek. This meant that would only eat food prepared by Amritdhari hands. Bhai Sahib was also strict in his Amritvela, rising everyday at 2am. From 2am to 8am, Bhai Sahib would do his Nitnem, and would never speak to anyone during this period. Bhai Sahib was very influenced by Baba Jarnial Singh Bindranwale. Throughout the Dharam Yudh Movement, Bhai Sahib with his whole family would accept imprisonment.

Operation Bluestar in 1984, had a deep impact on Bhai sahib. From this period, Bhai Sahib in his katha openly started condemning Brahmin authorities, and their devious practices. Due to the sincere nature of Bhai Sahibs character, the parchar that Bhai Sahib did had a lot of influence on the sangat. Bhai Sahib was against all types of Gurudoms, santdoms, and as a result of his parchar in the Jagraon area, many deras, businesses of Brahminvad, blind worship and ritualism were eradicated from every village and town.

Due to Bhai Sahib's parchar, the drug ridden area of Jagraon, witnessed many Amrit Sanchars, and kesri dastars and black gatras could be seen everywhere. Once again the Malwa region strangled by drugs, witnessed a Khalsa revolution. At weddings, where previously dirty songs were heard, now Gurbani keertan was heard. In buses, the Bollywood songs were replaced Dhadi Vars and religious songs. Much of this social change was credited to Bhai Gurdev Singh ji.

As a result of this, in January 1986, Bhai Sahib was chosen to the highest Seva in the Khalsa Panth, the Seva of Jathedar of Siri Akal Thakhat Sahib ji.

The times were difficult, but Bhai Sahib did this Seva as a fearless general. Jathedarji`s first action was to remove all the Government agents dressed as Sikh youth jujarhoos from Sri Darbar Sahib. Next, he ensured that the corrupt karkoos who were having langars in their rooms in the Darbar Sahib complex were stopped from doing so, and everyone was made to have langar only in the Guru Ram Dass langar hall. Throughout his period as Jathedar, Bhai Sahib ensured he had only from Guru Ram Dass langar hall to ensure the Maryada of Sangat and Pangat was upheld.

At this time, the Kar Seva (building) of Sri Akal Thakhat Sahib was happening. Jathedar ji took control of the Golak to ensure it would not be siphoned off by unscrupulous characters. Bhai Sahib was completely sympathetic to the Khalistan cause, and felt that the Khalsa needed to fight for its independence. In his lectures, Jathedar ji would say, those who have internal differences, kill innocent Hindus, give threats like gangsters, were traitors to the Sikh struggle and cause. He would often speak about the need for Sikhs to develop a revolutionary spirit.

In his Katha, Jathedarji would often speak against the ills of Punjabi society, and encouraged social change. In his period, he helped thousands of poor girls who were abandoned by their husbands because of the greed of dowry. Bhai Sahib would himself become involved in individual cases and ensure the girls were accepted back into their homes. As a result of this parchar, in the Jagraon area, social ills such as dowry, alcoholism, domestic violence greatly reduced.

Such was the impact of Jathedarji's sincere nature, that the population stopped taking their disputes to courts and police stations. Instead they would come to Koanke village, to Jathedarji, where they felt they would get justice. In disputes, the sweet words of Jathedarji would leave both parties walking away happy.

As a result of this social change, the Police and other Sarkari (government) agents saw their incomes significantly decrease, as the money the received as bribes or extortion from these disputes dried up. They became dangerous enemies of Jathedarji, and started to plot against him.

In 1989, some karkoo Singhs fired on the Ludhiana headquarters of the RSS ( a right-wing Hindu fascist group). Jathedarji`s enemies saw their opportunity. At that time, Ludhiana was under the control of an extremely vicious and brutal SSP called Sumedh Saini. To get Bhai Sahib to admit responsibility for the attack, he was hung upside down, and tortured for many hours.

Then later on, Jathedarji was once again arrested and was falsely implicated in the Bidar attack. However, after one year, Jathedar ji was again released. Then on 19th May 1991, Bhai Sahib was again arrested and tortured. He was imprisoned for another 18 months.

Jathedar ji would never allow the sangat to bail him out and always fought his cases with truth and full faith in Guru Maharaj, which ultimately resulted in his release. In fact, the Government was often forced to admit in court that the charges against him were false. This led to great embarrassment for them. For the mud they slung at Jathedarji, he always came out whiter than white. The population witnessed the difference between the character of the Khalsa Singh and the devious nature of the Brahmin authorities. As a result, the aura of Jathedar Ji`s revolutionary Khalsa character was a huge thorn for the Brahmin agencies.

On 20th December 1992, the cowardly Police forces, at 4am, came to arrest the Lionhearted Jathedar Gurdev Singh. However due to the fact that the body of Bhai Sahib's young nephew lay at his house awaiting preparation for cremation, they had to release Bhai Sahib a few hours later.

Five days later, under the command of Inspector Gurdeep Singh, the Police arrested Jathedarji as he finished Katha at Gurdwara Sahib in the early hours of the morning. Bhai Sahib asked them if he could go home first, and that then he would accompany them. Bhai Sahib walked home, followed by the Police party, and many local villagers. Once he arrived home, Bhai Sahib did 'ishnan' and changed his clothes, and then went and sat in the Jeep. The whole road was filled with villagers. Jathedarji rose to address them. In a sincere manner, he asked the sangat to accept his final "Waheguru ji ke Khalsa, Waheguru ji ke Fateh!!". Jathedarji was aware his time had come, and sweetly accepted the will of Akal. Fearing the wrath of the sangat, the police quickly sped off.

Jathedarji was tortured by the infamous and brutal Head of Jagraon Police Swaran 'Gotna', thus named for his use of the "Gotna" in interrogation. The latter is a large log placed on the legs and rolled up and down them while two policemen stand with their full weight on each end. He was assisted by Harbhagwan Sodhi and Inspector Gurdeep Singh, who today is a DSP in the Punjab Police. Then Jathedarji was further interrogated by CIA staff of Jagraon.

In those days, a rumor spread through the villages of Jagraon. When Swaran 'Gotna' swore at Jathedarji and told him to remove his Kirpan and gatra, Jathedarji in a state of Bir Rass replied, "Stop, who are you threatening?……….this is worn because of the many Great Sacrifices…….. A dog of the Brahmin like you will never understand its value..". A scuffle broke between the two and it took 5-7 commandos to restrain Bhai Sahib. His Kakkars were removed and he was mercilessly beaten and tortured.

Jathedarji kept Gurmat Bibek he would never eat at the Police station. Everyday his family would bring prepared meals for him, but the brutal Police always refused to let him eat, and sent the family away. As a result, Bhai Sahib health decline, but he never compromised his religious principles of Gurmat Bibek.

Hailing from the nearby village Chaharchak, an old Bibi arrived at the Police Station in relation to a case. She saw Bhai Sahib and he was in a very fragile state. At this point, local villagers and Akali Leaders began putting pressure for Jathedarjis release. When local villagers with Akali leader Captain Harcharan Singh Rode met with Police officials, they were told that Bhai Sahib would be charged and sent to prison.

However on 1st January 1993, Swaran Gotna satisfied his taste for revenge. As a result, on the 3rd January 1993, the newly appointed SSP Harinder Chahal stated to newspapers that Bhai Sahib was leading them to a cache of arms used by militants, when on the way they were attacked. He said Bhai Sahib had escaped. However everyone knew that these stories by Punjab Police were always made up. In reality, Bhai Sahib became Shaheed on 1st January and was thrown into a river.

Anger grew throughout Punjab as the news of Jathedarji`s Shaheedi spread. Panthic Leaders throughout the world gathered at the bhog. However the Police and Army sealed off Koanke village. The cameras of the attending members of the press were confiscated and destroyed. Akali leaders in attendance were beaten with lathis (wooden poles). Even the highly suspect Akali leader Parkash Badal demanded an investigation into the murder of Jathedarji, but decades later, nothing has materialized. Whenever Bhai Sahib family raised the issue, many more innocents became victims of Police excesses. Through infiltration by shady elements, the use fear tactics, threats, and bribery, the case is always held up or shelved.

Even Jathedarsji`s young son, Hari Singh was not spared. A false case of a bombing was placed on him, even though on that day he was at school. Because the registrar confirmed his attendance, it eventually led to his release. Bhai Sahib`s elder son, Bhai Ram Singh was also picked up and tortured by Police on many occasions.

The Akali party fought the next election stating it would investigate the period of 1984 onwards and produce a white paper. It won the election by an overwhelmimg landslide, but Badal soon forgot every promise and used his time to expand his own wealth.

When Bhai Sahib's family approached the Akhali party for a full investigation, Police Officer Tiwari held an investigation. However just as what happened to the report on the investigation of the murder of the 13 Singhs in 1978, the murder report of Bhai Sahib mysteriously disappeared somewhere in Badals administration and was never seen again.

Guru Pyari Saadh Sangat jio,

It is with great pleasure that dassan daas announces the completion of a Sampardaic Sateek of the whole of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib by Baba Teja Singh Ji Nihang Singh Mahero Vale, who was a student of Sriman Sant Gyani Gurbachan Singh Ji Khalsa Bhinderavale. The Sateeks are made up of 6 Potheeyaa from Jaaap Sahib to the Hikaeyatan. They also contain answers to many questions which arise about Sri Dasam Granth Sahib, as well as going into deep vichar of each specific Baani.

So far with the Grace of Akaal Purakh and Satguru Ji 4 potheeyaa have been printed and published, however there are two potheeyaa left to be printed and published still. Dassan daas does a humble benti before the Guru-Roop Sadhsangat to unite and fund this historic project which will create more knowledge, understanding and awareness of the Amrit-roop Gurbani of Sri Dasam Granth Sahib in the Khalsa Panth. These sateeks will be vital in the oncoming years to understand Sri Dasam Granth Sahib and to clear up misconceptions and confusions which some factions have regarding Sri Dasam Granth Sahib

Saadh Sangat ji dassan daas has attached pictures of the 4 potheeya which have been printed so far. If ayone from the Saadhsangat would like to donate towards this mahaan seva please contact...

Sikhi Stance On Homosexuality!

Sikhi teaches the path of truthful living and righteousness. The definition of truthful living is when you live a life according to Gods will. When one is corrupted by darkness and evil desires they live a life based on sin. Sikhs do not even cut their hair as they believe the hair have been put their according to Gods will. Anyone with common sense will know that God has created man and women to reproduce, this is a law of nature and a design of Gods will. Homosexaulity is against the will of God, in the same way as cutting ones hair is to a Sikh. Homosexuality is illegal amongst Sikh ethics and the Sikh code of conduct. The doors of the Gurdwara are open to anyone without any discrimination, but Sikh institutes will not carry out:

1: The Sikh initiation (Amrit ceremony) of a Homosexual person who refuses to stop having homosexual relationships after Amrit.

2: A Homosexual wedding.

3: Recommend the adoption or fostering of Sikh children to Homosexual couples.

The above three situations are there to protect Sikh ethics; any institute going against these is breaking the code of Sikh ethics.

In Sikhi Homosexuality is seen as devil like behaviour, although Sikhs do not see as a crime like some other religions. A person has the right to do what they want behind closed doors. But Sikhi in general does see homosexuality as a form of Maya (illusion) which keeps one away from Gods will. Homosexuality is defiantly seen as a form of Anti-Social behaviour by the Sikh religion. Gurbani tells us that evil instincts that lead us away from God are caused by the uncontrolled mind and dark energies within us. If a person does not meditate on God, this uncontrolled mind just keeps on increasing in its path of corruption and filthy desires.

This leaflet is not intended to offend homosexuals, but it is giving the honest view of homosexuality by the Sikh religion.

The love of Maya is enticing; without teeth, it has eaten up the world. The self-willed manmukhs are eaten away, while the Gurmukhs are saved; they focus their consciousness on the True Name. Without the Name, the world wanders around insane; the Gurmukhs come to see this. Ang 643 Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

Everything else is false. Whatever pleases Your Will is acceptable. Ang 16 Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

The blind have forgotten the Naam, the Name of the Lord. The self-willed manmukhs are in utter darkness. Ang 19 Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

O Nanak, the Boat of Truth will ferry you across; contemplate the Guru. Ang 20 Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

The Gurmukh knows the Divine Light, while the foolish self-willed manmukh gropes around in the darkness. Ang 20 Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

She has neither modesty or self-discipline; the self-willed manmukh constantly tells lies, and is ruined by the bad karma of evil deeds. Ang 786 Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

Hindu Man wants 1984 to happen in Canada

This guy called Ron Bannerjee representing an RSS supporting group called Hindu Conference of Canada has said on a website the following

http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:W_Go8...lient=firefox-a

Post 1:

We will work hard to expose Khalistan terrorism and the cost to Canada of (Khalistan) Sikh immigration. Thank you for your touching concern about our energies and where we choose to expend it.

Despite your advice, we choose to devote some reources to this Khalistan Sikh terrorist problem, in keeping with our goals of protecting and preserving Canadian freedom and democracy. It is part of our mandate, you see.

And BTW, Sikhs lost the wars to the Mughals..the Mughals in fact had control of all North India including Punjab, and were unable to penetrate the Hindu South Idnian heartland. The Mughals fell with the arrival of the British, not because of any Sikh action.

Thank you for your concern for our welfare.

Post2:
The Hindu Conference of Canada will work hard to publicize not only the terrorist acts of Khalistani Sikhs, but also the role of Khalistan Sikhs in the continuous beating and killing of women and chiildren of their own community in BC...the gang violence and shootings in Vancouver inspired by Khalistan Sikh elements...and the role of these Sikhs in blocking the deportation of Laibar Singh and other Sikhs illegally in Canada.

Look forward also to financial reports released ... which reveal the cost to Canadian taxpayers

If the DARBAR temple has the right to display KHALISTAN TERRORIST signs, the Hindu Conference of Canada also has the right to expose and highlight the havoc that KHALISTAN SIKHS are wreaking in Canada. And posting on National Post blogs and writing letters to paper editors, interviews on TV, etc, are just part of our toolset.

If the DARBAR and other Sikh temples/parades continue to promote Khalistan, we will, in fact, use other (legitimate and democratic) methods ... to show Canadians what Khalistan monsters are in our midst.

There are other democratic, legitimate means that we have not even used yet...that we will use unless this situation gets resolved

Post 3.
To clarify, the Hindu Conference of Canada supports extensive police investigations into Sikh temples where terrorist ideologies are being preached and terrorist icons are being displayed. All such temples must, following investigation, be shut down for national security purposes... and because of the presence of possible terrorist forces in the premises, armed police and military must be used in the enforcement of these judicial orders. Canada must follow the example of democratic India, where in 1984 the Army was used to liberate the Golden Temple in Amritsar from Sikh terrorist forces...following extensive investigations and legitimate approval from the courts.

We hope to see a just replication of the 1984 Golden Temple action by Canadian military forces here in Canada. As a suspected site of terrorist activity, this Darbar must be a prime target in such investigations and possible follow-up military action.

Post4.
Khalistan terrorist supporters infesting a National Post blog? The Hindu Conference of Canada represents and supports justice regardless of political affiliation. We hail & support Indira Gandhi's heroic assault on Khalistan terrorists, and the Indian Army's wonderful liberation of the Golden Temple in 1984. Indira and her Congress were always opposed by Modi and the BJP...so sorry, Singh, your spurious allegation that we 'represent' a particular political view or party is false.

We support all anti-terrorist acts, whether it be Indira's Congress govt heroically crushing Sikh terrorism or the Modi administration defeating Muslim terrorists. When the Congress party is correct (as in the 1984 assault on Sikh terrorists), we support Congress; when the BJP takes the correct path, we support them. We are always on the side of justice and righteous conduct, independent of political affiliation.

That's why the Hindu Conference of Canada is the sole Canadian Hindu advocacy...reflecting the moderate mainstream views of Canada.

You should know, Mr Singh, that we support the closing down of Ontario Khalsa Durbar and many other Sikh temples in Canada. And we are lobbying the govt to do just that. Real Canadians will no longer tolerate the presence of these hate factories in our midst for long. The Canadian military will at some point enter this Darbar, just as the Indian Army entered and purified the Golden Temple.

Post5. LATEST
Premier McGuinty visited India on a taxpayer funded junket, which focussed on PUNJAB (where Sikhs come from) and PAKISTAN ... two regions which supply lots of immigrants (and terrorists) to Canada. McGuinty went there to curry votes from the Sikh and Muslim communities, camouflaging it as a 'trade mission'. Another multi-million dollar Liberal waste of taxpayer funds.

If Canadians were serious about bizness opportunities in India, we would go to GUJURAT, the most advanced, well-governed, and prosperous region. Not many GUJURATI immigrants here, though: they're so rich they dont need to come to Canada! Sorry, Liberals, no vote-banks...so no trade missions, right??

VIEW OF A SIKH BELOW

'''Hindu conference of Canada which represents the fascist right wing and rabidly communal and terrorist organization like RSS has the gall to suggest that freedom and justice loving Sikhs are some how terrorists. These Hindus were slaves for 800 years and it is the tremendous sacrifices of the Sikhs that freed them. But true to their character they betrayed the Sikhs and now are responsible for brutal and cunning occupation of Sikh nation.

The favorite hero of these terrorist organizations is Gurat Chief Minister Modi responsible for the mass murder, gang rape and burning of thousands of innocent people. He is also the national mascot of India.

I am also surprised how the western media has been very effectively brain washed by the Hindu propaganda machines. Jonathan Kay's description of Khalsa Ontario Darbar is half baked and totally lacks the perspective. Since when demanding freedom for your people has become criminal?? Since when has a few posters become so objectionable?? Canada needs to explain why RAJIV GANDHI - a mass murderer who murdered tens of thousands of innocent Sikhs in New Delhi and the rest of India in 1984 was allowed to enter Canada and address the parliament and be honored by our country's leadership.''

THIS GROUP OPENLY PROMOTES HATE OF SIKHS WHO SUPPORT THE RIGHT TO SELF DETERMINATION,HCC INDIRECTLY CALLS SIKH GURDWAREH TERROR FACTORIES AND GROUPS LIKE SIKH ACTIVIST NETWORK SUPPORTERS OF TERROR NOTE THEY MENTION THE CASE OF THE IMMIGRANT SINGH WHO ASKED FOR CITIZENSHIP.HOW DARE HE!!!!! MAKE THREATS LIKE CANADA'S ARMY WILL COME AND ''' PURIFY''' OUR GURDWAREH IN CANADA THIS MAN NEEDS TO BE REPORTED FOR PROMOTING HATERED BY A SIKH GROUP SUCH AS 'WSO', SIKH YOUTH GROUPS AND OTHERS WE CANNOT AND WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS ,WHAT KIND OF GROUP IS THIS ? RSS MODI WORSHIPPING TERRORISM SUPPORTING BRAHMANVADI HINDUTVA THINKING TERRORISTS !!!!!!!

WE ALL KNOW HOW THE INDIAN ARMY 'PURIFIED' THE GOLDEN TEMPLE WHATS HE TRYING TO SAY, THIS AIN'T NO RESPECTABLE ORGANISATION THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL A REAL TERRORIST GROUP.ACCORDING TO HIM SIKHS IN CANADA DO NOT HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH AS HE SAYS DISPLAYIN KHALISTAN IS SUPPORTING TERRORISM WHICH IS ILLEGAL.

CANADA SIKHS YOU REALLY HAVE TO WAKE UP AND COUNTER THIS HINDUTVA GROUP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WE CANNOT LET A GROUP SUCH AS THIS GET AWAY WITH MAKING THREATS SUCH AS ARMY IN TO OUR GURDWAREH,HURTING OUR SENTIMENTS BY PRAISING 1984,CALLING US TERRORISTS -DEFAMATION AND SLANDER,AND HONOURING NARINDER MODI WHO COMMITED GENOCIDE IN GUJARAT IN 2002,EVEN AMERICA BANNED HIM FROM ENTERING DUE TO HIS GENOCIDAL ACTIVITIES AND LINKS

Sikh Man Gets Terrorised

Her crime was to fall in love. She paid with her life

When 17-year old Rand Abdel-Qader met a British soldier in Basra, she dreamt of romance. But five months later she was murdered in a savage attack by her father. But there will be no trial: this was an 'honour killing'. Investigation by Afif Sarhan in Basra, Mark Townsend and Caroline Davies

Rand Abdel-Qader, 17, told her closest friend that she was in love from the moment she set eyes on the young British soldier working alongside her in Basra, and she dreamed of a future with him.

It was an innocent infatuation but five months after Rand, a student of English at Basra University, met Paul, a 22-year-old soldier posted to southern Iraq, she was dead. She was stamped on, suffocated and stabbed by her father. Several brutal knife wounds punctured her slender, bruised body - from her face to her feet. He had done it, he proclaimed to the neighbours who soon gathered round, to 'cleanse his honour'.

And as Rand was put into the ground, without ceremony, her uncles spat on her covered corpse because she had brought shame on the family. Her crime was the worst they could possibly imagine - she had fallen in love with a British soldier and dared to talk to him in public.

Rand was murdered last month. That the relationship was innocent was no defence. She had been seen conversing intimately with Paul. It was enough to condemn her, because he was British, a Christian, 'the invader', and the enemy. The two met while he was helping to deliver relief aid to displaced families in the city and she was working as a volunteer. They continued to meet through their relief work in the following months.

Rand last saw Paul in January, two months before her death. It was only on 16 March that her father, Abdel-Qader Ali, learned of their friendship. He was told by a friend, who worked closely with police, that Rand had been seen with Paul at one of the places they both worked as volunteers. Enraged, he headed straight home to demand an explanation from his daughter.

'When he entered the house, his eyes were bloodshot and he was trembling,' said Rand's mother, Leila Hussein, tears streaming down her face as she recalled her daughter's murder. 'I got worried and tried to speak to him but he headed straight for our daughter's room and he started to yell at her.'

'He asked if it was true that she was having an affair with a British soldier. She started to cry. She was nervous and desperate. He got hold of her hair and started thumping her again and again.

'I screamed and called out for her two brothers so they could get their father away from her. But when he told them the reason, instead of saving her they helped him end her life,' she said.

She said Ali used his feet to press down hard on his own daughter's throat until she was suffocated. Then he called for a knife and began to cut at her body. All the time he was calling out that his honour was being cleansed.

'I just couldn't stand it. I fainted.' recalled Leila. 'I woke up in a blur later with dozens of neighbours at home and the local police.'

According to Leila, her husband was initially arrested. 'But he was released two hours later because it was an "honour killing". And, unfortunately, that is something to be proud of for any Iraqi man.'

At the police station where the father was held Sergeant Ali Jabbar told The Observer last week: 'Not much can be done when we have an "honour killing" case. You are in a Muslim society and women should live under religious laws.

'The father has very good contacts inside the Basra government and it wasn't hard for him to be released and what he did to be forgotten. Sorry but I cannot say more about the case.'

Rand, considered impure, was given only a simple burial. To show their repugnance at her alleged crime, her family cancelled the traditional mourner ceremony.

Two weeks after the murder, Leila left Ali. She could no longer bear to live under the same roof as her daughter's killer and asked for a divorce. 'I was beaten and had my arm broken by him,' she said. 'No man can accept being left by a woman in Iraq. But I would prefer to be killed than sleep in the same bed with a man who was able to do what he did to his own daughter, who, over the years, had only given him unconditional love.'

Now she works for a women's organisation campaigning against honour killings. 'I just want to try to stop other girls having the same fate as my beloved Rand,' said Leila who is forced to move regularly from friend to friend

A colleague of Leila's said: 'We prefer to change places each two weeks to prevent targeting. She has been threatened again by her husband's family and is very scared.'

Throughout her friendship with Paul, Rand confided in only one person, her best friend Zeinab, 19. 'She used to say that her charity work had more than one meaning now. From the first time she saw him, she was helping needy families but also that Paul was helping her. With just a simple, caring smile, he was able to give her the sense of love, making her forget all about the hard and depressing life in Iraq,' said Zeinab.

The two teenagers had spent hours talking about him,' she said. 'She loved to speak about his blond hair, his honey eyes, his white skin and the sweet way he had of speaking.

'He was very different from the local men who usually are tough and illiterate. I was in heaven when she was speaking about him. Everything looked so beautiful.

'But, I always had to remind Rand that she was a Muslim and her family was never going to accept her marrying a Christian, British soldier'.

'Unfortunately she never wanted to hear me. Her mind was very far from reality, but closer to an impossible dream.'

Paul gave Rand gifts. She kept them - and him - secret from her family and asked Zeinab to take care of these small tokens of his affection for her. He gave her a charming cuddly animal. 'She couldn't take it home so she asked me to keep it for her,' said Zeinab. 'It's hard to look at it every day,' she said.

Rand told Zeinab she and Paul had met only four times, though Zeinab doubts this. Their meetings were always in public and through the voluntary work that Paul carried out as part of his regiment's peacekeeping duties.

Rand had an excellent command of English and spoke it fluently and that, said Zeinab, allowed them to communicate freely without others around understanding what they were saying. 'She was the only one who could speak English and it made it easier for her to get closer "through words" to him,' she said.

Soon Rand began giving different and elaborate excuses to her family to enable her to continue her voluntary work. She persuaded her father that her work was vital in helping families. And she began paying daily visits to displacement camps, local aid agencies and hospitals in the hope of bumping into Paul.

'He used to tell her all about England. She told me his father had died from a disease and that it was a really sad story,' said Zeinab.

'She liked to speak about how couples could live together in his country. He told her that flowers could be found on every corner and he promised to take her one day to buy some in the streets of London. She was a fan of London and he told her about all the tourists attractions there.'

'But the thing she used to like talking about best was how he praised her beauty and her intelligence. She told me he called her "princess".'

Despite knowing how dangerous the consequences of her actions could be, and the punishment she faced if caught, her passion for Paul grew stronger, said Zeinab. 'She never did anything more than talk to him. She was proud to be a virgin and had a dream to give herself to the man she loved only after her marriage. But she was seen as an animal,' said Zeinab.

'What they did to her was ugly and pathetic. Rand was just a young girl with romantic dreams. She always kept her religion close to her heart. She would never even hurt a petal on a rose.'

Last year 133 women were killed in Basra - 47 of them for so-called 'honour killings', according to the Basra Security Committee. Out of those 47 cases there have been only three convictions for murder.

Since January this year, 36 women have been killed.

Two teenagers have been jailed for life for the murder of a 20-year-old woman who was killed because she was dressed as a Goth.

Ryan Herbert, 16, of Rossendale Crescent, Bacup, who admitted the murder of Sophie Lancaster, received a 16-year minimum term at Preston Crown Court.

His accomplice Brendan Harris, 15, of Spring Terrace, Bacup, Lancashire, who was convicted after a trial last month, was given a minimum of 18 years.

Sophie was kicked and stamped to death as she begged the pair to stop beating her boyfriend Robert Maltby, 21, in a park in Bacup, Lancashire.

Three other teenagers who took part in the initial attack on Mr Maltby were also named. Brothers Joseph, 17, and Danny Hulme, 16, both of Landgate, Whitworth, near Bacup, and Daniel Mallett, 17, of Rockcliffe Drive, Bacup, all pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent on Mr Maltby. They did not take part in the attack on Sophie, the court was told.

Judge Anthony Russell jailed Mallett for four years and four months and the Hulme brothers for five years and 10 months each.

Passing sentence Judge Russell QC said: "This was feral thuggery. It raises serious questions about the sort of society which exists in this country at the start of a new millennium which was heralded with such optimism.

"At least wild animals, when they hunt in packs, have a legitimate reason for so doing, to obtain food. You have none and your behaviour on that night degrades humanity itself."

Gap year student Miss Lancaster and her boyfriend Mr Maltby were attacked in Stubbylee Park last August.

Neither of the defendants knew the couple, who were both Goths, and the only motive for the violence was they simply looked different to them, a jury was told last month.

Harris punched Mr Maltby when someone in his gang shouted "let's bang him".

Herbert and three other youths joined in by kicking and stamping on him as they beat him unconscious.

When Miss Lancaster cradled her boyfriend in her arms and pleaded for mercy, Harris delivered a flying kick to her head and Herbert volley-kicked her in the face "like a ball in flight".

The injuries to both victims were so severe that paramedics could not tell which sex either was. A clear footwear pattern was visible on Miss Lancaster's head.

Both fell into comas, but Miss Lancaster never regained consciousness and died in hospital 13 days later.

An Austrian police handout picture released April 28, 2008 shows a man suspected of keeping his daughter prisoner and abusing her for 24 years in the basement of a house in the small Austrian village of Amstetten.

AMSTETTEN, Austria (Reuters) - A 73-year-old Austrian electrical engineer has confessed to holding his daughter captive in a secret, windowless cellar for 24 years and fathering seven children by her, police said on Monday.

The case, centered on a nondescript two-storey building in the small industrial town of Amstetten, bears chilling similarities to that of Austrian Natascha Kampusch who spent eight years locked up in a basement before escaping in 2006.

Some parts of the cell in which the family were kept were no more than 1.70 meters (5 ft 6 in) high and officials said the basement even contained a padded cell.

"This is an appalling crime. I know of no comparable case in Austria," Franz Prucher, head of security for Lower Austria told a news conference.

Elisabeth Fritzl, 42, says her father, Josef Fritzl, lured her into the basement of the block in 1984 and drugged and handcuffed her before imprisoning her.

Three of her children, aged 19, 18 and 5, had been locked up in the basement with her since birth and had never seen sunlight, police said, raising worries about their physical and mental state. The younger two were boys, the eldest a girl.

Three other children -- two girls and one boy -- were brought up by Josef and his wife.

As well as confessing to locking up his daughter for 24 years and siring the seven children, Fritzl also admitted to burning the body of the seventh child in the heating system when it died soon after birth, said Franz Polzer, head of criminal investigations in the state of Lower Austria.

All the victims are receiving medical treatment, said police. State prosecutors said Fritzl would be summoned before a judge later on Monday.

Investigators spent the day combing through the cells where the victims had been held captive. Forensic experts in white uniforms and gloves carried out boxes of evidence from the house which is on a busy street with shops.

Fritzl had hidden the entrance to the cell behind shelves and only he knew the secret code for the reinforced concrete door, said officials.

Photographs showed a narrow passageway leading into other rooms which included a cooking area, sleeping area and a small bathroom with a shower. A tube provided ventilation.

Amstetten, located in rolling hills about 130 km (80 miles) west of Vienna, is an industrial town of about 22,000 people.

HOSPITAL VISIT

The case unfolded when the 19-year-old girl became seriously ill and was taken to hospital, prompting doctors to appeal for the girl's mother to come forward to provide more details about her medical history.

Fritzl then brought Elisabeth and her remaining two children out of the basement, telling his wife -- who thought their "missing" daughter had chosen to return home, police said.

Elisabeth agreed to make a comprehensive statement to the police after receiving assurances she would have no further contact with her father, who she said abused her from the age of 11.

Kampusch, who spent her teenage years held captive, offered to help the victims and told ORF radio she might talk to the family.

"I can imagine that it is very difficult both for the mother of the children as well as for the wife of the perpetrator to get through this," she said.

Psychiatrist Max Friedrich, who treated Kampusch, said the children were undergoing tests in hospital, in particular for problems with their eyes and skin due to the lack of daylight.

"And socially ... the (children) could not develop any sort of sense of community which they would get from going to school or playgroup," Friedrich told Reuters.

SHAME

The case has raised questions about how authorities and neighbors failed to notice anything unusual in the "house of horrors," not least because officials said Fritzl had over the years built extensions to the secret cellar.

"The community of Amstetten should drown in shame ... The neighbors are turning a blind eye," the Oesterreich newspaper wrote in an editorial.

The daily Der Standard wrote: "The whole country must ask itself what is really, fundamentally going wrong."

Another puzzle is how Josef's wife Rosemarie could have been unaware of what was going on.

Police have said they believe Rosemarie did not know what happened to her daughter when she disappeared in 1984. It was assumed Elisabeth had left voluntarily when her parents received a letter from her saying they should not search for her.

Untouchable' woman dies after Indian medics refuse treatment

LUCKNOW, India (AFP) — An "untouchable" woman who gave birth outside an Indian hospital because doctors would not treat her died Thursday, a day after her baby, officials admitted.

The newborn boy of Maya Devi, 28, died Wednesday due to lack of medical help minutes after being born outside the maternity wing of Kanpur Medical College in northern Uttar Pradesh state.

Devi was only put in intensive care after giving birth but she died of a heart attack early Thursday morning.

Several doctors, including the hospital's chief medical superintendent, had refused to touch her or provide medical care as she delivered her baby, the Press Trust of India reported.

Devi was a Dalit, or "untouchable", a group at the bottom of the caste social ladder who have long been ostracised and forced into menial professions despite laws banning discrimination. Many high-class Hindus fear coming into contact with them.

Dr Kiran Pandey, head of gynaecology at the hospital, told AFP she was an hour's drive away in state capital Lucknow at the time and rushed back.

"We provided her the best medicines and treatment but she succumbed to two cardiac arrests," Pandey said.

College principle Anand Swaroop has ordered an inquiry, as has a district magistrate.

The state's chief minister, Mayawati, who won elections last year, has ordered the doctors to be suspended and demanded an investigation.

Man shot 'for Christian beliefs'

A man killed by Islamist fighters in Somalia was shot because he had converted from Islam to Christianity, his widow has claimed.

Daud Hassan Ali, 64, of Kings Heath, Birmingham, was found dead at the school his charity had built in Beledweyne on Monday.

Margaret Ali said she was "certain he was killed because he was born a Muslim but converted to Christianity".

Rehana Ahmed, 32, from Birmingham, and two Kenyan teachers were also killed.

Mr Ali had left Somalia in 1967 and became a Christian after meeting missionaries.

Mrs Ali, 64, said that some Islamists "believe it is ok to kill any man who was born into Islam and left the faith".

'Life-long dream'

She added her husband knew it was a risk going back to Somalia as a Christian but said he was there to teach not convert others to his faith.

She said: "He was a teacher, he never made any attempt to convert anyone to Christianity, and only practised his faith in private.

"Most people didn't give tuppence about him being an apostate (someone who has renounced the religion of their birth), but some Muslims interpret the Koran differently.

"I just hope they died quickly and didn't suffer too much. But I hear their bodies are riddled with bullet holes."

She said the last time she spoke to him was Friday evening when he phoned her to wish her happy birthday.

The father-of-two had left the country of his birth in 1967 and worked across the Middle East and Europe before studying in the UK and working as a primary and secondary school teacher.

He eventually settled in Birmingham where he worked for the city council as an educational psychologist before retiring in 2004.

Mrs Ali said it had been her husband's "life-long dream" to go back to Somalia and set up a school to "help his people".

She said they decided to set up the Hiran Community Education Project charity after discovering there were about 20,000 children in central Somalia getting no education.

The Hakab Private English School was only completed one month ago.

Mrs Ali said Ms Ahmed, who was a graduate of the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, had joined her husband at the school to teach English.

She said she was a "gifted student" who was "loved by all the people at the school".

She is survived by a brother and sister.

The Islamist al-Shabab Movement, the armed youth-wing of the Council of Islamic Courts movement, has admitted taking the town.

But a spokesman said: "We heard that the foreigners were killed but we do not claim responsibility."

British officials in Kenya and staff from the High Commission in Nairobi are investigating.

Sick man in this sick world

Austrian 'hid daughter in cellar'

The house where the man and his daughter lived

A 73-year-old Austrian is under arrest on suspicion of hiding his daughter in a cellar for 24 years and fathering seven children with her, police say.

The existence of the woman, believed missing since 1984 and now 42, emerged after a teenage child fell ill and had to be taken to hospital.

Both the woman and teenage girl are receiving medical treatment and the other children are in care.

A police investigation in Amstetten, Lower Austria Province, is continuing.

The suspect, named only as Josef F, was arrested on suspicion of incest and keeping his daughter in captivity. He has not responded to the charges against him, police say.

One of the children the man allegedly fathered died in infancy, police believe.

Three children, including the 19-year-old, were allegedly kept in the cellar with their mother while the other three reportedly grew up with their grandparents.

DNA tests will be taken to establish whether Josef F was indeed their father.

Placed in care

The alleged crimes came to light after the teenager, named as Kerstin F, was dropped off at the Amstetten hospital last weekend.

Finding Kerstin seriously ill, doctors appealed for her mother, who at that time was assumed to be missing, to come forward to provide more details about her medical history.

Josef F allegedly then released the mother and two other children from the cellar, telling his wife Rosemarie that she had chosen to return home, police say.

It was not immediately clear how police were alerted.

The mother, named as Elisabeth F, has been receiving medical and psychological treatment since being discovered.

She appeared "greatly disturbed" psychologically during questioning and agreed to talk only after authorities assured her that she would no longer have to have contact with her father, and that her children would be taken care of, police added.

The six children are three boys and three girls aged between five and 20.

Police spokesman Franz Polzer told reporters they had been taken to a safe location.

"They are all in psychological care in a secure institution in a clinic here in this area," he said.

"They are being cared for individually - those between 12 and 16 years of age who grew up with their grandparents, and two boys who, when they came out yesterday with their mother, saw the daylight for the first time in their lives."

The three children who grew up with their grandparents were left at birth outside the house, the first accompanied by a note from Elisabeth in which she said she could not care for the baby herself.

All three were taken in by Josef and his wife as foster or adopted children, police said.

'Dead baby burnt'

The police issued a statement giving details of the alleged abuses Elisabeth recounted to them.

She said she had been sexually abused by her father since the age of 11.

Josef allegedly lured her into the cellar of their house in Amstetten on 28 August 1984, drugging and handcuffing her before locking her up.

It was assumed she had disappeared voluntarily when her parents received a letter from her asking them not to search for her.

"Abused continuously during the 24-year-long imprisonment", Elisabeth bore six children while a seventh, one of a set of twins, died soon after birth.

The dead baby was allegedly taken out of the cellar and burnt by Josef.

Elisabeth said Josef had provided her and three of her children, who were locked up along with her, with clothing and food.

His wife Rosemarie had allegedly not been aware of what was going on.

The discovery of another Austrian woman, who was held captive in a cellar by an abductor for more than eight years, gripped the country in 2006.

Natascha Kampusch finally escaped from her kidnapper, 44-year-old Wolfgang Priklopil, who killed himself shortly afterwards.

Ms Kampusch was abducted at the age of 10 in 1998 and held in a small, windowless cellar beneath Priklopil's garage in the commuter town of Strasshof, 25km (15 miles) outside Vienna.

US marine charged over Japanese rape

protest against a US Marine's alleged rape of a young girl in Okinawa
The allegations of rape in February caused outrage in Japan

A US marine is to face court martial after being accused of raping a 14-year-old girl on the Japanese island of Okinawa, the US military says.

Staff Sergeant Tyrone Hadnott, 38, was first arrested for the offence by police in February.

He was released by Japanese prosecutors after the girl dropped the case.

Sgt Hadnott has been charged under the US military justice code "as a result of a Marine Corps investigation". No date was set for the hearing.

He is charged with rape, abusive sexual contact with a child under 16, and kidnapping through inveigling.

The case has already caused outrage in Japan, and led to calls for stricter discipline on US troops.

More than 40,000 American troops are stationed in Japan under a security treaty, about half of them on the southern island of Okinawa.

In a separate case, four other marines are facing a court martial over the alleged rape of a Japanese woman last year.

Soon after Sgt Hadnott's arrest on 11 February, Japanese police said he had admitted forcing the girl down and kissing her, but that he denied the rape.
