The Khanda is a weapon of deep meaning for the Sikhs, the double edged sword was the weapon Guru Gobind Singh Ji, used to make Amrit. Amrit of the Khanda was given to all Sikhs who wanted to commit to Guru Ji. However some Sikhs have altered this and started giving Amrit made with a kirpan (a curved sword) to women. They say the khanda is a masculine weapon, while the kirpan is a feminine weapon. This is very silly and stupid approach to have. Whats next the men are going to be apart of the khalsa panth and will the women be apart of the khalsi panth, see how stupid this ideology is. If you look at Sikh history and shabads, only the Khanda is associated with the Amrit ceremony. It is so silly that people want to change traditions started by Guru Ji to suit their own personal views, do they think they are greater than Guru Ji?
To drink the ambrosial nectar of the khanda (Amrit) is the primary instruction for the Sikh. He who abandons all other initiations is truly a great Sikh.-Rehatnama- Bhai Desa Singh Ji-Amrit keertan
Drink the Amrit of the Khanda (double edged sword), and then your life becomes blessed.-Bhai Gurdas Singh Ji – A Scribe of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. (Amrit keertan)
