Sikh attacked by so called sikhs for speaking truth!

An American Sikh had a miraculous escape when he was attacked by followers of a Sikh sect, for raising objection over the slaughtering of a goat and then applying ‘tilak’ of its blood on weapons. The American Sikh was dragged by them into the Takht building. However, he was saved on the intervention of some saner elements with the help of the Maharashtra police.

Blast at Gurdwara Tegh Bahadar Sahib in Nottingham

Nottingham, UK (KP) – An investigation is being carried out by the Police in relation to a blast that took place at Gurdwara Tegh Bahadar Sahib in Lenton. The blast took place around 5:20 PM and no injuries were reported by the police.

According to details that have been publicized after the event, the blast took place in a room next to the Gurdwara Sahib kitchen. According to police reports, the blast does not seem to have been planned. Further investigations will take place tomorrow and appropriate actions will be taken to ensure safety of the Gurdwara Sahib.

Following the blast Gurdwara Sahib premises have remained inaccessible for the Sangat. Local streets – Lenton Boulevard and Gregory Street have also been put under surveillance as a safety measure. Local residents had to be evacuated but later allowed to return after two hours.

Black day for the Sikhs of Belgium

English translation of French article by Ricardo Gutierre (Le Soir)

Justice / No arrest made at the end of the Vilvorde raid

The police raid at Vilvorde’s Sikh temple has bruised the community. Which demands an apology.

Resham Singh is wounded. But the sparkle in his hazel eyes doesn’t represent well the rancour that torments him. On Saturday, the Police beseiged the Sikh temple that he presides at Vilvorde, as part of the drive to break-up an Indian network of trafficking of human beings (Monday evening). An operation without consideration for the special ceremony that was being held there. “Black day”, says Resham Singh, “that we will commemorate every year.”

The Gurdwara Sahib is one of the four Sikh temples of the country. It has up to 900 devotees. A vast hangar at the heart of Vilvorde transformed into an Australian hype restaurant before being reconverted into a religious place. The entry gate, flanked by big wooden cases where the followers deposit their shoes evokes that of a mosque. The room has two levels, covered with Persian carpets… The space is traced with multicoloured paper garlands, plastic flags. Rainbow coloured balls dangle on ropes tied from one wall to another.

At the far end of the room, two enormous stuffed tigers – like those that can be won in lotteries in the fairs in the Midi – stand guard at the foot of the “palki”, the altar of the temple, where two huge sports trophies are enthroned… “Gifts”, Resham Singh seems to be excusing himself.

Nobody finds the apparent kitsch funny…. “Devotees have been reduced to tears here when we recounted yesterday’s police raid… Do you realise”, says Resham Singh, “Our temple is the only one in the world to have been subjected to this outrage… The only Gurdwara where the 48 hours of uninterrupted reading which was supposed to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the sacred texts of Sikhism have been savagely interrupted.”

The facts tumble in the nervous remarks by Resham, his ally Malook, Amrik, the converted Sikh, and “Sunny”, the Muslim friend, the only member of the group without the turban, the pepper and salt beard (never cut, like the hair) and the kirpan, the symbolic dagger with shoulder strap.

"The police block the exits from 4.30 am. The doors were broken down at 5 am. The charge : Devotees, traditional singers and the “granthi”, the prior of the temple taken in for questioning. The cupboard was broken, from where the account books were taken away. The inner ransacking of the place, from the roof to the cellar. The heavy noise of shoes, especially on the worn-out carpet. And the heads uncovered. As though out of provocation."

“A humiliation”, resumes the old Malook. The ways that remind one of that fateful day when Indira Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India at the time, ordered the siege of the Golden Temple of Amritsar”, the central place of the Sikh monotheism.

In less than 24 hours, the devotees taken in for questioning, numbering about 40, were freed. Sunday evening, the foreign office renounced the application of the only three orders issued to leave the country… The concerned persons (the singers having come from India to celebrate the “akhand path”) had valid passports and visas. “Everything happened as though the Public Prosecutor’s office, that did not arrest any of the alleged leaders of the network, felt obliged to justify the scale of the raid”, comments advocate Inès Wouters.

Two days after the raid, still no explanation”, observes Resham Singh.. “Why did the foreign office try to expel three visitors on a legal visit? What is the justification for this behaviour that the churches are spared, that nobody would dare to inflict on mosques, synagogues and Masonic temple? The Public Prosecutor in Brussels claims that the Gurdwara in Vilvorde is “regularly used for receives illegal immigrants”. At the same time admitting that there was no proof to establish that the people in charge of the temple were implicated.

Illegal immigrants? “Everyone is welcome”, reacts ‘Sunny’, “We do not ask for papers at the entry. And if we do give private individuals shelter, as is required by the Sikh tradition, it is for a maximum of one or two days… Only the “granthi” resides in the temple.

The case has disgusted the Sikh community in the four corners of the world. “We have written a letter to the Prime Minister, Yves Leterne, asking him to order an inquiry into the events at Vilvorde”. confirms from New York, the lawyer of the United Sikhs , Mejindarpal Kaur. Others followed, like the religious authorities at Amritsar, as well as their representatives in United States and Canada. The Association of Sikh Temples in United States also saw sense in taking the matter before the State Department… “This temple is not a no-right zone, but for all that, it is not less of a place of respect”, insists Ms. Wouters. “We are waiting for excuses: the Justice department has unnecessarily created the amalgam between criminal activities that must be prosecuted and the practice of Sikhism.” Resham Singh, suddenly, becomes serious, “5,000 to 6,000 Sikhs live in Belgium. A peaceful, hardworking community present from 18 years… Every year on the 11th of November, at Ypres, we participate in the commemorations in the memory of the 35,000 Sikhs who shed their blood here, during the two wars. How can you expect us to understand the way the Police has treated us?”

The sweet milk tea has become cold in the metallic glasses kept on the ground. The vermicelli made of chickpea flour doesn’t tempt anyone. In the galleries of the temple, a child holds an inflated ball in the air. Resham Singh has a thought for his four children. They live in Amritsar with their mother whom he visits five or six times a year. “I wanted them to learn Punjabi and to study the sacred book. They will come back to Belgium when they will be 13 – 14 years old. I hope that they will come back to a country which would have the dignity to excuse itself for an unjust affront.”

Badal Cajoles Anti-Panthic 'Namdhari' Cult with Public Funds

Badal, Talwandi and other Nakli-Akalis attend anti-Sikh Dehdahri Function

Ludhiana, Punjab (KP) - In order to further propagate the Hindutva agenda to the Sikh youth in Punjab and desecrate sacred Sikh values and institutions, Parkash Badal guaranteed free rein to the anti-Sikh 'Namdhari' cult and presented a blank check to his dehdhari 'satguru'- and cult leader Jagjit Sinh, at a state sponsored event held at the 'Namdhari' headquarters at Bhaini to mark 150 years of the cult's existence. This comes less than a month after the mahant vowed to revive the anti-Sikh cult and presented the fake 'guru' with a check of Rs. 50 lakh for the creation and maintenance of 'Namdhari' centers throughout the state.

In his usual pretentious tone, Badal lauded the cult for the 'numerous sacrifices it has made for the independence of Hindustan,' and assur

ed Jagjit Sinh that his government would take all necessary steps to 'create awareness' about the 'Namdharis.' The mahant further commented that it was particularly essential to educate the youth throughout Punjab about the 'Namdhari heroes' like 'Satguru' Ram Singh, and announced plans to have 'Namdhari' history become a compulsory portion of the statewide school curricula. Badal further emphasized that he and his government will abide by any and all orders from the 'Namdhari Darbar' of Jagjit Sinh and later told reporters, "I have given them [Jagjit Sinh] a signed blank check and they can have whatever they want at my disposal."

Numerous other anti-Sikh individuals shared the platform with the mahant including Nang Ajit Poolha who, just as Panthic Weekly predicted in last week's issue, has already been released from prison by the Punjab police in less than a week's time.
The program was also attended by several key leaders of right wing Hindu terrorist organizations including, Pavan Kumar Gupta of Shiv Saina, Ashok Sinhal of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Avinash Rai Khanna of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Charanjit Sinh of Rashtriya 'Sikh' Sangat (RSS), Mahinder Sethi- leader of the Radhaswami cult (Beas), Balwant Ramoowalia of Lok Bhalai Party, Rajinder Bhatthal, 'Sant' Balbir Sinh Seecheyal and Jagdev Sinh Talwandi, all of whom expressed support and praise for the anti-Sikh cult. General Secretary of the extremist VHP organization, Ashok Sinhal praised the 'Namdhari Darbar' for its 'contributions and services to Punjab, especially towards cow protection.' H.S. Hanspal, president of the 'Namdhari Darbar' at Bhaini was also present and expressed his gratitude to Badal for his 'continued devotion to 'Satguru Ji.' Hanspal is currently under investigation for his role in underhand political dealings, but has been granted impunity by the Vigilance Bureau under Badal's orders.

All in attendance sat on the floor subjacent to the self proclaimed 'satguru' Jagjit Sinh while Badal sat on a platform somewhat higher than the other attendees. While various speakers addressed the cult gathering, Jagjit Sinh attempted to mock the Sikh Gurus as he is disreputably known for, by sitting under a canopy while having a wisk waved over his head.

In response to this free rein granted to the anti-Sikh cult, a representative from the Khalsa Alliance stated, 'This abhorrent episode is the latest event in a litany of deception and corruption from the Badal/BJP/RSS regime. Prior to the elections, Badal made numerous promises to the Punjabi people ensuring that Punjab would come out of economic subservience but instead the peoples' money is being used to fund these anti-Sikh cults and depredate Sikh values.'

They further stated that the Takht Jathedars' continued apathy to these anti-Sikh forces which are set on promoting fake human 'gurus' in Punjab is yet another indication of the leprous collapse of integrity in the so called 'Sikh' leadership.

Badal Promises Revival of Anti-Sikh 'Namdhari' Cult

Payback : Parkash Badal hands a check of Rs. 50 lakhs to his Naamdhari guru

Ludhiana, Punjab (KP) - Following the SAD(B)/BJP's opprobrious election campaign, Nakali Akali Parkash Badal has been active in returning political favors to various anti-Panthic dehdhari 'gurus' and cult leaders who supported him during the elections. In Sikh circles, the most contentious of these unscrupulous political favors is Badal's recent pledge to revive and strengthen the infamous anti-Sikh 'Namdhari' cult throughout Punjab.

At a meeting held on March 24, just weeks after the election results were announced, Badal visited Jagjit Sinh, leader of the 'Namdhari' cult, and presented him with Rs 50 lakhs. Badal stated that the money was being donated for the completion of a Kuka memorial at Malerkotla and promised that this was just the beginning of his program to 'revive and create awareness of the Namdharis' in Punjab. Several other members of SAD(B) and the 'Namdhari' cult were present at the meeting including Thakur Udhey and the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana, Sumer Gurjar.

Badal scandalously declared that the Punjab State Government would also be providing funds to reestablish the 'Namdhari' headquarters at Bhaini and that Jagjit Sinh will have unlimited access to these funds. Plans were also drafted to construct roads linking the Bhaini headquarters to major cities in Punjab to provide easy and fast access to the dera.

To further promote anti-Sikh dehdhari 'gurus' Badal requested the Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University (Amritsar) to immediately reopen the 'Satguru' Ram Singh Chair and promised that his government would cover any and all costs to revive this program, which had been previously been discontinued after Sikh organizations protested against its inherent sacrilegious idiosyncrasy of promoting a living human 'guru.' In addition to all this, the Badal government also plans to fund and build more 'Namdhari' centers in Raikot and Amritsar in the next several months.

Panthic organizations throughout the Diaspora, including the Khalsa Alliance and Shabaaz Khalsa stand united and resolute against the anti-Sikh 'Namdhari' cult and noted that the current agenda of the Badal regime of promoting dehdhari 'gurus' is a mirror reflection of the 'Nirankari' episode of 1978.

Sikh leaders cautioned that there needs to be internal transparency into how the donations from the Sangat are handled as Badal has a notorious reputation for laundering money from donations made by the Sangat via the SGPC, as he did during the tercentenary Vaisakhi celebrations in 1999; money which he then uses to propagate his anti-Sikh agenda.

Mahant Badal first invited dehdhari 'guru' Jagjit Sinh to participate in the 1999 tercentenary celebrations after having Panthic Jathedar, Bhai Ranjit Singh Ji removed and replaced by Badal's peon, Vedanti; who continues to remain silent on this serious issue. Prior to that Jagjit Sinh and his predecessors had always been banned by the Sikh nation from participating in any Panthic programs as the 'Namdhari' cult has been excommunicated from the Khalsa Panth.

This 'revival of the Namdharis' by the Badal regime is unprecedented and is a pure indication that Badal and his BJP/RSS masters are determined to desecrate the sovereignty of sacred Sikh values and institutions.

Badals (sell out) Relationship with Namdhari cult

Badal visits Kooka Cult; Continues to Defy Sikhs

Vying for the Kuka vote, Parkash Badal visits dehdhari cultist Jagjit Sinh

Ludhiana, Punjab (KP) – The recent news of Parkash Badal visiting the Naamdhari headquarters in Bhaini has once again brought him the condemnation of the Sikh Community. But the former Shiromani Akali Dal (B) President has shown less and less concern towards these complaints. Badal's visit to Bhaini included the company of many other Shiromani Akali Dal leaders, which certainly put a shameful label to the political party’s name.

"Badal...is trying to please the very community that opposes the idea of Guru Granth Sahib being the successor of Guru Gobind Singh Ji."

The Kuka Darbar visit obviously came to win Jagjit Sinh’s followers' votes, but when asked by the press regarding the reason to visit Bhaini, Badal alleged he wanted to sympathize with the demise of "Maharaj" Bir Sinh, the younger brother of aged Jagjit Sinh, the current chief of the Naamdhari cult. Bir Sinh passed away on October 11th when he suffered from cardiac arrest.

Leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (B) that accompanied Badal on his visit included Hira S. Gabria, Inder Iqbal Atwal and others. Badal praised the life and service of Bir Sinh towards humanity. From the Naamdhari Darbar, several eminent personalities, including Bir Sinh's sons, were present while Badal visited.

In the past, Parkash Badal has showed explicit interest in helping promote the Naamdhari cult. Donations in large sums of rupees have been made to the Naamdharis to help assist their existing programs throughout the country and with Parkash Badal's help, the "Satguru Ram Singh" chair has also been reinitiated at Guru Nanak Dev University.

The timing of the visit has come while the Sikh Nation celebrates the 300th Gurta-gaddi anniversary of Guru Granth Sahib. Badal however, is trying to please the very community that opposes the idea of Guru Granth Sahib being the successor of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Although, the Namdharis consider themselves to be Sikhs, they are not accepted by the main Sikh population due to thier fanatical belief in a living human guru. The cult does not accept the Gurta-Gaddi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Granth Ji, instead they worship a deh-dhari 'guru' as their spiritual master. Naamdharis consider Balak Singh (1797-1862) as their 11th 'guru', and the successor to Guru Gobind Singh Ji. They follow many ritualistic Hindu traditions like the worshiping of fire (havan), and also maintain the Hindu belief that the cow is sacred animal.

Happy Bandi Chor Diwas

Divali – Keeping the flame of freedom alight

Sikhs throughout the globe will celebrate Divali on 28th October. Divas/lamps will be alight; a jovial festival atmosphere will prevail. Sweets and samosas will be enjoyed; fireworks will set alight the moonlit sky. But why do we really celebrate? Apart from the annual calendar significance? What does Divali mean for us as Sikhs?

The sixth Guru, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee was falsely imprisoned for spurious reasons by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. After some months it was declared that Guru Jee could walk free. Like Guru Jee there were other prisoners of conscience in Gwalior Fort (the prison), specifically 52 Hindu Kings who made a heartfelt plea to Guru Jee begging him to negotiate their release also. The ocean of mercy Guru Jee listened attentively to their plea and showered his grace upon them and told them not to worry and that he would negotiate their release.

Guru Jee told the Emperor he would only leave the prison on the condition that the 52 Hindu Kings are freed also. The Emperor being a man entangled in his own ego and pride of intelligence replied that Guru Jee could walk free with as many Kings who could hold onto his clothing on the day of his release. Guru the fountain of knowledge easily got around the condition by getting a robe tailored with 52 tassels on it. On the day of His release Guru Jee walked out of Gwalior Fort with all 52 Hindu Kings holding onto one tassel each, this auspicious occasion is referred to as “Bandi Shorr Divas – the day of emancipation.” Guru Jee did not only free the 52 Hindu Kings from prison, He also showered His grace upon them and freed them from the transmigration of the soul, freeing them from the cycle of births and deaths. Each and everyone of us also begs for this freedom:

Forsaking all other doors I have come to your door. Preserve my honour by offering the support of your arm, liberate me, I am your humble servant. (Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee)

I have come to the sanctuary of the formless and emancipating Lord, who destroys all sufferings. (Sri Guru Arjan Dev Jee, Limb 624 – Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee)

May Guru Jee bless us with spiritual and physical liberation also.

Bandhi Shorr Divas was months prior to Divali. Upon release from Gwalior Fort Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee made a tour of Delhi and other regions, then arrangements to go to Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple), Amritsar were made. When he reached Amritsar Sahib it was Divali and the Sikhs celebrated the release of Guru Jee with fireworks and festivities.

Relevance today

The world over there are countless prisoners of consciousness, held under false fabricated charges and/or those held for standing up for justice, freedom and righteousness. Please light a candle for these prisoners, non-Sikhs and Sikhs, don’t forget Guru Jee’s example of freeing Hindu Kings. He was benevolent, humane and had a profound love for one and all, may we develop such divine virtues. May we all endeavour to assist and support such prisoners and at the very least we can all make a heartfelt prayer that Guru Jee blesses all prisoners with Chardi Kala/High Spirits.

One cannot begin to imagine losing freedom of movement and action; we can only try to empathise with such prisoners. Regardless of the regime and its tyranny, no man-made authority can imprison the Sikh Spirit and Sikhs still happily go to the gallows for standing up for justice, freedom and righteousness. The Sikh Spirit cannot be imprisoned. Prominent Sikhs currently imprisoned include Dr. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, Bhai Deya Singh Lahoria, Bhai Balwant Singh, Bhai Paramjeet Singh Bheora, Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara, Bhai Paramjeet Singh Dhadhi and the list goes on and on. Just imagine being the parent of a child who entered militancy or quite simply ‘disappeared’ in the 80’s and 90’s in Punjab. Many of these parents light a candle at Divali, praying and wishing that the light of hope may still bless them with a vision of a fit and well son or daughter. Or they pray in despair that may God nurture their offspring wherever they may be. So when you light a candle and eat a sweet at Divali, please spare a thought, that you are free and are not bound by the restraints of prison life. Lest we forget, let’s light a lamp to ensure the rays of freedom shine through all of humanity.

Sikhs Protest against Belgian Police who Stopped their Prayers

Police Raid Sikh Gurdwara During Continuous Prayer to Celebrate the 300th Anniversary Celebration of the Enthronement of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji
Vilvoorde, Belgium - As non-stop prayers were in progress yesterday for the auspicious tercentenary of the enthronement of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, police raided the Gurdwara Guru Nanak Sahib (Sikh place of worship) in Vilvoorde, stopping prayers and arresting 30 people as part of a city-wide immigration raid. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is a compilation of sacred Sikh scriptures and was enthroned by the Tenth Guru as the last and eternal guru of the Sikhs in 1708.

Despite the protest of the gurdwara management that a special 48-hour continuous reading of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, known as an akhand paath, was taking place and that the granthi (person conducting the prayers) immediately displayed valid immigration papers, police arrested him and stopped the prayers.

“UNITED SIKHS and the Sikh community are appalled by the police's insensitivity in its actions during the raid, as police knew that the gurdwara is a place of worship and should have known about the tercentenary celebrations and the significance of the continuous prayers which cannot be stopped. UNITED SIKHS is writing to the Belgian prime minister, seeking a full investigation of the incident, an apology from Belgian police and changes to the police procedures when handling places of worship of all communities,” said Mejindarpal Kaur, UNITED SIKHS Legal Director.
Mejindarpal Kaur contacted, Ines Wouters, a Brussels based lawyer, to investigate the matter further and to ensure that those arrested are being provided legal representation. The akhand paath for the tercentenary celebrations are scheduled to restart today.
Ines Wouters met with the Sikh community at the gurdwara and reported, “The Belgian Sikh community is very shocked and will make an official protest and contemplate legal action against the method used by officials. The same result could have been reached in a different way respecting the feelings and dignity of the Sikh community. A society which does not respect religious belief and sensitivity is losing its fundamental values.”
Commenting on the incident, Kuldip Singh, president of UNITED SIKHS stated, “Belgium has the right to enforce its immigration laws. However, the police actions here were blatantly disrespectful and violated all laws and norms regarding people's right to prayer and worship in peace. There was no need for the police to stop the akhand paath (continuous reading) as valid papers were produced on the spot by the granthi.”
Resham Singh, President of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Sahib, arrived shortly after the arrival of police and protested that the akhand paath must not be stopped. “Our Gurdwara is a place of worship open to all. We do not inquire about the immigration status of the people coming to worship at the Gurdwara. Police should have been more sensitive during the raid; to enter a gurdwara with shoes on and to further stop an akhand paath is a serious violation of the religious rights of the Sikh community,” he said.
Avtaar Singh, President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC), Amritsar, India, expressed his concern to UNITED SIKHS, stating, “I severely condemn the police action inside the Gurdwara. Sikh sentiments are hurt with the disruption of the akhand paath of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The Belgian Government should seek an explanation and apology from the police department for the action inside the gurdwara. I will write a memorandum to the Indian Prime Minister and the Government of Belgium to investigate the police action in the gurdwara when the 300 years celebrations were going on in Belgium.”
Additionally, Dr Pritpal Singh, Coordinator of the American Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (AGPC) stated, “On behalf of the 45 member gurdwaras of the AGPC in the USA, I wish to record our protest and condemnation of Belgian police action of stopping Sikh prayers which were being conducted in Belgium to commemorate the tercentenary of the enthronement of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. We will write to the Belgian government for an explanation and also ask the United States State Department to investigate this matter.”
The Honourable Gurbax Singh Malhi, Member of Parliament for Bramalea-Gore- Malton, Canada, also expressed concern stating, “If the reports of the incident are correct, I strongly condemn the police action in the Belgian Gurdwara. The religious ceremony was stopped which could have been avoided. All religions should be respected in Belgium. I will send a letter to Prime Minister of Belgium regarding the police action."
Commenting on the effect this incident has on the Sikh community, Kuljit Singh, General Secretary for the oldest Gurdwara in the western hemisphere, Central Gurdwara (Khalsa Jatha) London in the United Kingdom stated, “This has been a violation of basic human rights. Belgium as a democratic country should not have allowed this kind of behavior by police. Religious customs should be respected and the police should not have worn their shoes and stopped the prayers.”
“The tercentenary is a very significant celebration for the Sikhs; one of our most precious historical events, and the akhand paath should never have been stopped. The last time that an akhand paath was interrupted was in 1984 when the Golden Temple in Amritsar was stormed by the Indian army. Sikhs are again pained to be reminded of that attack by this unfortunate incident.” He added.

K 2 K

AL-Kalifa (2005) stated,
"It is easy to take the Sikh girls out on a date as they generally like a good drink and from there gradually they can be brought into Islam".

'Muslims are being paid 10,000 pounds to convert a Sikh girl to Islam'
(Daily Star, Front page 26th July 2005).

Kaur 2 Khan is a common phrase used with Islamic circles referring to the conversion of Sikh girls to Islam.

You may think why Sikh girls are easily targeted? It is a common known fact around the Muslim community that Sikh girls like a good drink, and a dance after. They have a firm belief that to get with a Sikh girl is easy as Sikh youngsters have much more freedom and trust than many other immigrant communities. If a Sikh guy is converted then only he becomes converted, if a Sikh girl is taken, a whole generation is taken!

After failing victim to this deception, many youngsters believe that they cannot come back once they have taken that step out of Sikhi. They can come back, as Guru Ji is forgiving and loves his children more than anything. But we must also learn from our mistakes. It is never too late. If you know someone in that dilemma help them to come back to their Sikhi home. If they are afraid to go back to their family, get in touch with a local youth group or Sikh society who may be able to help find a safe location.

Conversions into ISLAM almost occur out of a persons IGNORANCE or MISUNDERSTANDING of their own religion. Take time to understand your own religion and educate others. The process of conversion is usually very SUBTLE and GRADUAL. It occurs progressively UNDERMINING YOUR CULTURE and RELIGION through misquoting religious texts.

Don't ever forget what your great ancestors went through at the hands of the Moghuls in India. We should never forget what these mighty LIONS have gone through to protect our religion, our culture and faith.

Please spread the msg about this group 2 as many fellow Sikhs as you can!
This is not hate literature but one of awareness and protection of our people!

They couldn't finish us when we were made to retreat into the jungles!
They couldn't finish us when we were cut piece by piece!
And now they have begun to use other means of destroying our beloved Sikhi!

Prevention is better than cure, arm yourself with Knowledge...

KNOWLEDGE OF SIKHI IS POWER!

Conversion methods used by Islamic extremists...WATCH OUT!

METHODS:

Drug rape

A colourless, tasteless drug is added to drinks resulting in the victim losing complete control of their bodies leaving them vulnerable to the drugger's desires. It is commonly used at pubs, clubs and from recent accounts, even at universities. When drugged, Islamic extremists repeatedly rape victims, and photos are taken by them. These photos are then used to blackmail the girl, forcing her to convert or suffer consequences of dishonuring her family and community. Senior Constable Watson explains that a drink spiker is "not the ugly, scary person", but most possibly "someone you know and someone who is confident, good looking and charming and possibly even your best friend".

Deception

Taqiyaa - It is stated in the Quran that Muslims can lie as long as it benefits their religion. This also allows Muslims to form relationships with SIKH women and to claim they are in love with them, then marry them, ultimately in order to make them convert to Islam. That's why you will never be able to trust a Muslim. Never trust vows and oaths such as 'Kasmeh'. They are all lies. Techniques such as undermining your culture and religion by MISQUOTING religious texts, falsifying historical events and deception is another common method of deception to brainwash Sikhs.
Sikh girls are also flattered with gifts and attention as a technique of persuasion.

Black Magic

You may not believe Black Magic exists, however it does. Muslims use black magic in order to convert Sikhs. They believe that the use of such occult is acceptable in Islam only if used against Kafirs (non-believers), this way they are being saved from the gates of hell. So don't take any object, food or gift from a Muslim.
A way to conquer black magic is by doing Naam Simran and also reading Gurbani.

The hot wind does not even touch one who is under the protection of the supreme Lord God. (Guru Arjan Dev Ji).

False Identity

Muslim youth always pretend to be of other faiths and they change their names on msn, HI5 and Internet chat rooms. E.g. From Mohammed to Mo and from Kamran to Kam. This is done so that they can slowly win over their trust then later on meet Panjabi girls, usually leading to kidnapping or rape. They also wear a Kara to clubs and bars, and speak Panjabi to decieve our people. This is common in universities. It has recently been discovered that Muslims are planning on converting Sikhs within our own GURDWARE!

Body Amour - The Gurus Teaching

In the world no one is invincible and everyone is at risk of getting attacked or murdered. The Sikh Gurus told the Sikhs to always be ready to protect themselves as it is kuljug and a lot of evil people have evil plans for others. The Gurus gave us shasters and taught us defensive techniques. The Guru themselves wore body amour and carried shields for protection.

Britain on alert for deadly new knife with exploding tip that freezes victims' organs

Senior police officers have been warned to look out for a new knife which can inject a ball of compressed gas into its victim that instantly freezes internal organs.

The 'wasp knife', which can deliver a ball of compressed gas capable of killing its victim at the press of a button, may be heading for Britain, the Metropolitan Police fear.

A needle in the tip of the blade shoots out the frozen ball of gas which instantly balloons to the

size of a basketball, freezing organs.

The Metropolitan Police have told colleagues in the West Midlands to be on the lookout for the blade, which is designed to kill sharks and bears.

Police fear that the 'wasp knife' - designed to kill bears and sharks - may soon hit the streets of Britain

Police are concerned that the £200 weapon could fall into the wrong hands.

The American-made weapon is sold to hunters and divers and injects the frozen gas when the small handle-mounted trigger is pressed.

The manufacturer describes it as perfect for downed pilots, soldiers and security guards and boasts that it will "drop many of the world's largest land predators".

It can snap-freeze all tissue and organs in the area surrounding the blast. A source close to West Midlands Police said: "The Met is obviously concerned about this and that is why they have circulated the information.

"This knife will almost certainly kill and the Met must have intelligence that they are in circulation.

"I think it is only a matter of time before one of these is used because the internet makes it much easier to find and buy weapons like this."

Labour MP for Perry Barr in Birmingham, Khalid Mahmood, said: "Weapons like this are absolutely disgraceful and there is no reason at all why people should be walking around the streets with them.

"There should be high-profile operations and high-profile arrests against anybody caught with them. The way to tackle the wider issue of knife crime is with effective community policing, which the West Midlands force does very well.

"The Met could pick up on the lessons from West Midlands Police in its excellent community work in places like Handsworth, Aston and Lozells."

The Wasp injection website states: "The effects of the compressed gas not only cause

overinflation during ascent when used underwater, but also freezes all tissues and organs surrounding the point of injection on land or at sea."

"Sikh" Wedding out of control

Sikhs Shun Meat and Alcohol at Weddings.

New Delhi (KP) – Taking a positive step to ensure Gurmat maryada is followed at Sikh weddings, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has passed directives asking Sikhs all across Delhi and other places to boycott marriages in which meat or alcohol are served. This latest directive by the DSGMC is also in accordance to Akal Takhat Sahib Maryada which applies to all Sikhs, irrespective of their background, affiliation, demographics or social status. The call to boycott such weddings is an interesting move as Sikhs based in New Delhi mostly belong to affluent families that are able to afford large budget weddings. Furthermore, the DSGMC manages over 350 Gurdwaras in Delhi and all their management committees have been asked to comply with the newly passed directive. The new directives uphold the common norm that events in which meat and alcohol are served are against the standards of Gurmat. In addition, those weddings that aren’t over by the evening are also not to be attended .
Traditionally, all Sikhs were of the belief that weddings are to be kept as simple as possible, but as times have progressed, a lot of ego has entered into the Sikh folds and our practices have gone astray from basic principles of Gurmat. In order to follow societal norms, even the average income earners have to take out loans to pay for their daughters’ weddings. In simple terms, such practices support the dowry system and female feticide, two principals which were both looked down upon by the Sikh Gurus. According to the Committee President Paramjit Sarna, even though the Panthic Maryada asks Sikhs to shun such worldly practices, there has only been an increase in recent years as the responsible Sikh organizations have not played their part in spreading Gurmat at a large scale. The worst thing about such weddings is that they put a burden on the shoulders of the bride's family. As the brides' families have to cope with the illegal demands of dowry, they have to bury the ultimate costs of ritualistic and social gatherings.
Sikhs who do not comply with these directives will not be issued wedding certificates from any of the 350 Gurdwaras based throughout Delhi. Furthermore, weddings that include evening or night parties will also not be allowed to hold anand karaj ceremonies at Gurdwara Sahibs.

Sikh Student Camp Should be Stopped Enough is enough!!

Sikh Student Camp has a history of distorting Gurmat and teaching the campers manmat in the guise of Sikhi. 2 years ago after some appalling incidents there was a nationwide call for the stoppage of this camp. However after talk and deep consideration it was decided, that a new Sevadaar team take over and improve the camp and take it back to a camp with Sikhi principles.

However this year again it has been exposed for anti-Gurmat activities. When doing camps the sevadars have a sense of responsibility. Each activity, talker and visitor must be given guidelines of what they can and can’t do. We try and be too liberal and compromise Gurmat. Guru Ji is our dictator and issues us commands; there is nothing liberal about Gurmat. You either listen to Guru Ji or you don’t.

When camps have twisted views and teach these twists views of Gurmat, they do more harm then good.

The main reason that most people go to camps in the first place is to check out the opposite sex. If w really wanted to learn about Sikhi we would have Same Sex camps.

A Sikhi camp should be brining people closer to maharaj, but these days’ people use them for their own agendas. Every camp sevadaar team is like a gang and all camps envy each other. No camp takes on the views of the Sangat. There seems to be a lot of ego “ours is the best”. Until the youth doesn’t come under the Nishan sahib together and help each other sort issues out, we will get these splinter cell problems. Anyways the Sikh Student Camp has been given so many chances by the mainstream sangat, however it keeps breaking Sikh ethics and principles.

Activities at the 2008 Sikh Student Camp.

Letter to Editor, by HS Bhatia
Sat Sri Akal.

I came across an old article on the Internet called ‘Disappointing Sikh Student Camp’. I wish to share this information with you. This year my friend sent his son to the Sikh Student Camp held in Chigwell at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College. His father sent him with good faith that he would learn about Sikhism and become a better Sikh. His friend recommended this camp to him and showed me the poster for the camp. They are a religious family with God’s blessings and their son is religious as well. He came back from this camp with a deranged view of Sikhism. It took a while to make him understand the real way of a Sikh. It took the whole of the family a while to convince him to the Guru’s way. His grandfather has great knowledge of Sikhism and Gurbani and spent a lot of time with him to unteach what he was taught at that camp. I wish to share this so that other parents are aware of this in future when considering sending their children to camps.

I was shocked by what my friend told me about this Sikh Student Camp 2008 and I am utterly disappointed.

The information given by my friend’s son about this Sikh Student Camp:

1) There was yoga in the Darbar Hall in the mornings whilst the Guru Granth Sahib’s parkash. For girls and boys to do funny postures together in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib is not right. Such activities should be conducted in a separate classroom or hall. (FEMALES AND MALES SHOULD HAVE SEPARATE CLASSES)

2) There was an informative talk on Guru Arjun Dev and Shabad Hazaray story. He enjoyed the talk and information given. An American Sikh was the speaker. The speaker got the campers to make lines in the Darbar Hall. The girls were asked to face the boys in lines. The speaker got the boys to sing one line of Shabad Hazaray to the girls and the girls were made to sing the next line of Shabad hazaray to the boys. This is totally wrong and unacceptable. Shabad Hazary are for God’s praise and should not be used for singing to girls and this nonsense. This is worse than fake sant Babas who do nonsensical parchar.

3) We been taught from day one that there is One God. This is how the Guru Granth Sahib starts with Ek Onkar. He says that in one of the camp talks by someone called Mr. Panesar, he said that there is ‘no God’. People send their children to learn about God and they at this camp say there is no God and that God is human beings. This Mr. Panesar taught them a concentration technique, focusing on a dot and that there is no benefit in repeating Waheguru. This is a lie. Since my childhood I have been told and learnt that a Sikh repeats Satnam Waheguru Simran and concentration should be on the sound of Sirman. Where does this technique of focusing on dots in your mind come from? Sounds like a cult Baba technique.

4) I was shocked to hear that day one was a Bhangra day. He said that a DJ was invited to the camp who was swearing and saying rude things. Is this a Sikh camp or a Bhangra camp? (BHANGRA IS PUNJABI CULTURE NOTHING TO DO WITH SIKHI)

5) In a Q&A class, the American Sikh, Mr. Panesar and others were answering questions to campers. I am disgusted to know that the speakers told campers that homosexual relationships are allowed in Sikhism, that same-sex marriages should be permitted in Gurdwaras, that Sikhs can find their own partners and marry outside Sikhism. These views are totally inappropriate and are preaching totally wrong things. We bring up children and teach them to be respectable and marry a Sikh girl and not to get into relationships with others. (SIKHS BELIIVE IN REPRODUCTION , HOMOSEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS ARE ANTI GURMAT)

6) It was disheartening to hear that a camp leader who was wearing a nihung turban and big beard told campers that there is no need to keep Kesh to be a Sikh. How can someone keep turban and beard and say such a thing? The same camp leader said that the discipline a baptized Sikh has to follow is wearing the 5 Ks and no other rules need to be followed. Sikhism is a way of life and by wearing 5 Ks alone is not religion. This misguiding youngsters that it is okay to do anything you feel like.

7) I was shocked to know that a Mona (clean shaven) was given lead sewa in the Darbar. Being a Sikh camp I would have thought that if they could not find any Amrithdari Sikh to do sewa of the Guru Granth Sahib and do bhog of Sahaj Path then at least they could have asked Gurdwara Gianis to come.

8) My friend has always taught his children that keeping Kesh is important. But this camp has left negative impression on his son. He was sent to learn more about Sikhism because of the bad things you hear about happening in universities. But instead of bringing closer to Sikhism they have encouraged him that it is okay for a Sikh to go clubbing and parties. He no longer wears turban and instead ties a patka. This is shameful for his family.

SikhStudent Camp Issues - Meeting 1 Jul 2006, Gravesend, Kent
August 8, 2006 at 12:08 am (Sikh Student Camp)

In response to the serious issue of the rumours that are going around regarding the SikhStudent Camp held annually in Chigwell, Essex. On the 1 July 06 a meeting was held in Gravesend Gurdwara, Khalsa Avenue attended by concerned members of the Sikh sangat from around the UK and the Camp organisers. Below is a summary by one of the attendees (taken from www.MrSikhNet.com)

On Saturday 1st July, I attended a public meeting held at Gravesend Gurdwara, Khalsa Avenue, organised by our local elders of Gravesend with elders from Slough, Southall, East London and Midlands attending the meeting. This included ex-campers and ex-sewadars of the Camp sharing what they witnessed at the camp, which I am sure if anyone heard would be horrified by. These organisers acknowledged and accepted these statements. The meeting was filmed on video by someone from the Sikh Student Camp and was also recorded on MP3 by the Sangat. Previous to this meeting I had heard various rumours and Internet bashing, however this was the first time both sides sat down and the Sangat were made to know the true reality of the situation.

I don’t want to write an essay about all the things discussed in the meeting however I would like to share that some “very serious” issues were raised. The main issues, which I heard at the meeting, were:

a) Promotion of Sanatan Dharma, a fundamentalist Hindu interpretation of Sikhism, e.g. we were told that by campers that they were told that the kachera comes from Hanuman (monkey god), men dressed as nihung singhs cut themselves and put blood on the khanda of the nishaan sahib for 2 or 3 years running, and campers have been told that the “true guru” is not solely guru granth sahib but “three Granths”, i.e. dasam granth, sarbloh granth and guru granth sahib make up the “Guru”.

b) Lack of observance of Sikh code of conduct in darbar and generally the camp - the camp organisers admitted that a Big Brother style video was shown in the darbar which included campers singing Bhangra songs about women and liquor, also we were made aware that amritdharis which had publicly renounced Sikhism by cutting their hair were asked to do kirtan, clapping was encouraged in the Darbar. The camp organisers admitted that they had no control to control the situation.

c) Campers, but worryingly sevadars in the camp not observing correct behaviour with campers in particular females. It was admitted there were issues with “over friendliness” and a female ex-camper shared that sexually disgusting things were said to her for two years running and to her friends by sevadars running “discussions”.

The conclusion of the meeting was that the Elders said if the Camp organisers, 50 in number, cannot control a group of 10 people who attended the camp and afterwards admitted to the Camp organisers that they wished to sabotage the camp, then how could they control a possible 20, 30 or 40 wrong campers?

A lady who was in charge of last year’s security of the camp nicely summarised that “Security is the most important thing in a Camp. For any good camp you need excellent security. If we don’t have the man-power or capability to control campers then we shouldn’t do a camp.” An Elder said that the Sangat could send 30 or 40 men to help the security and “save the camp” however at the same time that would cause tension and aggression with those who attend the camp with the intention of causing trouble and fighting at the camp is not a solution but would be a further problem.

Deep and serious issue, so let’s not jump the gun. It’s good that we are all concerned and wish to help out. So let’s do that. I was happy that Internet Rumours and “Hear-say” were cleared at the meeting and the Sangat were made aware of the “THE” truth so that they could move forward to actually help the Organisers to address issues of immoral conduct, promotion of Hinduism in Sikh appearance to campers, loose behaviour and how basic Gurdwara etiquette has been observed.

So let’s pray and let’s try to do something positive. May God help us in keeping Sikhism’s purity and sincerity.

Gurdeep Sandhu

Email to Sikh Student Camp - Latest
August 17, 2006 at 6:26 pm (Sikh Student Camp)

On 8/8/06, Sikh Parents Awareness Society

Dear Sikh Student Camp 2006 Team
It is disheartening to read your request of details of the incidents that we have highlighted in the leaflet. If you remember a meeting with yourselves was organised by Seva Singh Lallee, Manjit Singh and other Gravesend Gurdwara Committee members in early July 2006. Not only did this meeting have representatives of the camp & the victims of the camp, but also had many members of Gravesend Sangat, because it was held in the Gurdwara Diwan hall.

Within this meeting all facts were presented to the Camp Organisers such as Gurmukh Singh, Randip Singh & Jasjot Singh. Furthermore to jog your memory this meeting has been captured on video by yourselves and we have an audio recording.

The culprits responsible for these and other incidents have been identified face to face and it is important to realise that you where dismissing these issues by saying those individuals have been banned for some time and so been dealt with. When the pictures of 2005 camp are reviewed those individuals are in the front during seminars and workshops. These same individuals were promoting the camp at “Keertan in the Park” in Hounslow, one week ago.

We have done nothing more but to given you suggestions and offer our help to stop these things from happen this year. Please remember our resolve to allow 10 or so of us to help out at your camp, this was flatly refused by Camp Organiser Gurmukh Singh of Gravesend.

Please acknowledge that within this meeting you agreed that these issues happened. Referring to the camp organiser who is head of security, she stated that if the Camp Organisers cannot implement controls then the camp should not happen. When we questioned about how these culprits were dealt with, Camp organisers like Gurmukh Singh refused to elaborate, again this doesn’t give us any confidence in your intentions.

Within some of the emails I have received people are asking to clarify the camp organisers. If you remember you agreed to submit to us a list of camp organisers so that we could differentiate the organisers from the culprits. As to this day we have not received this list. It looks as if you do not wish to differentiate the organisers from the culprits.

The details have been with the organisers for many weeks now and we are still awaiting any response or action

Student suicide over binge drink

A student killed herself after a row with her boyfriend over her binge drinking problems, an inquest heard yesterday.

Sophie Banks, 21, was drunk when she met Wayne Simpson, 24, in a club last Boxing Day night and stormed off after they rowed.

She was found hanged the next day. The inquest heard the forensic psychology student had studied different ways for people to die - including hanging.

Wayne told the hearing: "Sophie was already drunk and her sister said 'You need to talk to her'.

"I said I would when she was sober. I thought we could sort it in the morning."
Wayne went to her house Falmouth at 2am to find his belongings in the street and Sophie saying it was over.

In the three months she dated Wayne, Sophie - who had a history of self-harming - had cut herself twice and when he got home he was so concerned he called police.
Two officers called at her house, but did not enter.

Next day, mum Andrea and sister Samantha found Sophie hanged from a banister with a scarf.

A postmortem showed she had 181 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood - more than twice the drink-drive limit.

Sophie's GP Dr Rob Beckett said he had referred her to a specialist who recommended she seek help for binge drinking. He said: "She was anxious, but not depressed. She had no suicidal thoughts, but she was binge drinking once or twice a week."
Andrea said: "She just didn't want to be here - it's as simple as that."

She added Sophie had studied books on suicide at Camborne College.
She said: "She did a section on how people could take their lives, including hanging. She knew what to do and meant to do it." Verdict: Suicide.

She sent me texts saying she wanted to find peace and I think now she has.

Vodka bet binge kills student, 19

A STUDENT died of alcohol poisoning after pals challenged him to a £40 bet to down an almost full bottle of vodka.

Jason Venezia, 19, was dared to sink three-quarters of a litre at a rate of one shot every 45 seconds.

Twenty minutes later he had polished off half a litre in 15 shots and was so drunk he couldn’t stand or speak properly, an inquest heard yesterday.

Friends carried him to bed and checked on him every 15 minutes for two hours to make sure he did not choke on his own vomit.

But Jason, who was in his first year studying psychology at Warwick University, was found dead from acute alcohol poisoning at 2pm the next day.

His blood contained an incredible 499mg of alcohol — more than SIX TIMES the drink-drive limit of 80mg.

The inquest came four days after the BBC screened shocking footage of University of Gloucestershire students taking part in a Nazi-style drinking initiation.

Jason’s heartbroken parents, Ennio and Joan Venezia, from Solihull, West Midlands, demanded a ban on boozing games and called for the legal age for drinking to be raised from 18 to 21.

Mum Joan, 54, said: “Jason was not a heavy drinker. It’s hard to believe one night out with his friends led to this.

“Students need to know that their drinking games can lead to sudden death. Jason’s death is a devastating loss that we are struggling to come to terms with. We miss him deeply.”

Coventry coroner Sean McGovern said Jason died from alcohol misuse. Recording a misadventure verdict, he added: “We hope lessons will be learned, but it happens all the time.”

UK Sikh School neglects care of Gurdwara

Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Chigwell (UK)

Chigwell, London (KP) - Last week it was brought to Panthic Weekly's attention that Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Chigwell, London, is doing beadbi (violating the sanctity) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by showing gross neglect and lack of care in managing and maintaining the Gurdwara which is within the school. The same school hosts the controversial ‘Sikh Student Camp’ every year. The same camp has come under the thick criticism for wrong parchaar, lack of observance of Gurmat Maryada, and a lack of discipline on behalf of camp sewadars. It was claimed by members of the Sikh Sangat that “the Chigwell sikh school are unaware of what their role is towards Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.”

Concerned members of the Sikh community reported that no one cleans the Gurdwara within the school and it looks in a sorry state. One Sangat member described their findings as, "I couldn't believe what I saw. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is kept in a small cupboard like room, which is really untidy and a sheer embarrassment. I also found Gutke Sahibs just laying around at the back.”

Students who attend the Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College have also contacted Panthic Weekly in regards to gross beadbi (violation) of the Gurdwara within the school. One concerned pupil wrote, “A non-Sikh ‘couple’ were ‘making-out’ in the back of the Gurdwara, and much more has and is still going on in the Gurdwara within the school. The school has students from all different faiths and no one shows respect for the Gurdwara.”

Another pupil of the school claimed that, “People swear in the Gurdwara. There is no discipline. They have no Amritdhari person to do Guru Mahraaj’s sewa. The tabla and vajas are kept on the side and many of them are broken. Also people pick out dry Parshaad themselves and there is no basic Maryada kept by pupils or enforced by the school staff. The children are told to wear hats in Darbar Sahib if they don’t like wearing rumaals.”

Photos of Beadbi:

Sachkhand is a small cupboard like room which is used for storage as well as for the resting place for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

Vajas and Tablas dumped in a corner of Darbar Sahib next to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, alongside bags of rubbish

Bags littering the way to get to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji

It is disheartening for the whole Sikh community to see the deterioration of our Gurdwaras. Anyone institution, Gurdwara, or school who has set up a Guru Darbaar, has the responsibility to maintain the Sikh Rehat Maryada. We are celebrating 300 years of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji being bestowed eternal guruship by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, yet sections of the Sikh community have still not learnt how to treat Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji the utmost respect, reverence, and care. It seems beadbi has been taking place for a number of years while the school retains a name of a school based on ethics of the Sikh faith, but it does not function in adherence of the basic tenants. This comes with no surprise with the school being given to the ‘Sikh Student Camp’ to hold a yearly summer camp, which has been widely reported as having many problems it self.

Panthic Weekly urges the local community along with the UK Sikh Sangat to contact Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Chigwell, and ask them to take appropriate action:

Disappointing Sikh Student Camp 2008

4) I was shocked to hear that day one was a Bhangra day. He said that a DJ was invited to the camp who was swearing and saying rude things. Is this a Sikh camp or a Bhangra camp?

This is shameful for his family.

I hope Panthic Weekly and Panjab Radio will both act on this matter. As I find it very serious matter and need action taking as soon as possible.

Is Project Naad now supporting Dera Jhoota Sauda Sirsa Cult ? (Editorial) Friday 25th of July 2008

...we hear talk of someone impersonating Guru Gobind Singh ... how is this disrespectful ....Also he did an Amrit ceremnoy with 7 people instead of 5. So what? - recent Project Naad statement

In the past year or so a website has emerged called “Project Naad” (www.projectnaad.com). This website claims to be a charitable organization which is committed to “producing high quality freely distributable content for propagating the Sikh way of life.” Project Naad states that the content of their website is intended for university students, Gurdwaras and Interfaith work. In theory the website and the motivation of ‘Project Naad’ seems very good. However, after close analysis of the Project Naad website, the content of their articles & leaflets, and comments posted on various message boards & forums, it is apparent this website is doing anti-Gurmat parchaar in the guise of Sikhi.

We were shocked to read a statement from ProjectNaad.com, posted on the SikhNet discussion board on 2nd July 2008, which showed open support for Dera Jhoota Sauda and it’s leader ‘Ram Raheem’. The full statement can be read on the Discover Sikhi messageboard. Panthic Weekly presents the objectionable statements written by the Project Naad website with replies from the Gurmat perspective (kindly provided by ‘Sikh Answers’):

QUOTE 1) There is some discussion about defining a sikh. There is not one answer and it depends how inclusive or exclusive we want to be. We at ProjectNaad would suggest that every living creature is a Sikh.... i.e. on a journey to realise truth. The traditional orders (sampardayas) in sikhi such as Nirmalas and Seva Panthis all have people who do not have the form of the Guru yet are 110% sikh

Anyone who does not faithfully believe in Khande Di Pahul (Amrit) and the Panj Kakaar, cannot be a Sikh. Modern Nirmalas and Udasis do not believe in Amrit or the Panj Kakaar and therefore are not Sikh. Anyone who practices and believes in the Sikh tenets is a Sikh. To argue that everyone is a Sikh is a wishy washy statement. Would you expect a Muslim to do Granthi Singh duty? Or would you allow a Christian to do Nishaan Sahib seva because he is a Sikh in your eyes? A Sikh has a set discipline, code of conduct and way of life. According to Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the Guru Khalsa Panth anyone who lives outside this conduct and discipline does not qualify as a Sikh. Everyone and anyone has a right to claim to be a Sikh.

The Panthic Sikh Rehit Maryada states:

Any human being who faithfully believes in* One Immortal Being,* Ten Gurus, from Guru Nanak Dev to Guru Gobind Singh* The Guru Granth Sahib,* The utterances and teachings of the ten Gurus and* the baptism (Khande di Pahul) bequeathed by the tenth Guru,* and who does not owe allegiance to any other religion, is a Sikh.

In addition to this, there are various Puraatan (old) Rahitnamas that convey the Hukam of Dashmesh Pita about a Sikh is one who has Kesh:

“God created the whole universe and then he fashioned the human body. He gave man a beard, mustaches and hair on the head. He who submits to His Will steadfastly adheres to them. They who deny His Will how will they find God in this world?”(Bhai Desa Singh Rahitnama)

"God has made the human perfect, but the dishonourable destroy it.They will find no place in the Court of God, like the unbeliever, dog and Satanist."(Guru Nanak, Janam Sakhi Bhai Bala)

The Guru's stamp is Kesh and (Khandi di) Pahul, one who removes (their Kesh) is known as an apostate (bemukh). One who shaves the stamp (of the Guru) of their child (i.e. cut their children's hair), realise that person will suffer a terrible death and known as a ghost." (Bhai Sahib Singh Rahtinama)

In addition to this Gurbani states:

ਸੋ ਸਿਖੁ ਸਖਾ ਬੰਧਪੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ਜਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਵੈ ॥

"They alone are a Sikh, a friend, a relative and a sibling, who walks in the Way of the Guru's Will."(Ang 601)

QUOTE 2) Deras form a very important part of Punjab in terms of providing social, economic and spiritual services to society. They in fact provide the perfect model for propagating sikh dharma. One of the central reasons for why deras are so popular is the sgpc itself. If you create a Gurdwara in Punjab it comes under the automatic ownership of the sgpc. No one wants this and so people set up deras.

Are these observations based on research or speculation whilst sitting on the computer? If you have lived in Panjab then you will know that Deras are places for drugs, exploitation, sexual slavery, and misconduct. What happens behind close doors and what is preached on stage are different. Please refer to reports given to Panjab Police. I am sure you can access these files via media and direct.

QUOTE 3) Everyone has the right to practice whatever religion they want in whatever way. So for people who think that Deras should be closed...we would suggest you read the definition of of a Democracy.

Everyone has a right to live the life they wish. Guru Tegh Bahadur sacrificed himself for the fundamental human right of being able to live freely. However, a Sikh nor any law abiding citizen will condone behaviour or actions that insult others and cause harm. Dera of Ram Rahim has murdered journalists, cases of rape are filed against him and his dera, and in addition to this he is been investigated for fraud. Should the authorities allow these fat cats to continue exploitation and illegal activities under the garb of religion? Freedom is supported by the Khalsa, but Guru Arjan Dev Ji's martyrdom shows that a Sikh has and never will accept insult.

QUOTE 4) whether a Dera has illegal things going on inside or not is completely insignificant. The first woman president of the SGPC was rumoured to have killed her own daughter...lord knows what happens behind our own closed doors. So lets now point fingers at other peoples oppression or corruption because we are not clean by a long shot.

It is worrying that you think rape, murder, exploitation, and sexual slavery, as well as fraud under the garb of religion is "insignificant." The ancient Pandits and Maulvis had a similar thought.
However, the Sikh Gurus condemned these people and Bhagat Kabir Ji states:

ਓਇ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਆਖੀਅਹਿ ਬਾਨਾਰਸਿ ਕੇ ਠਗ ॥੧॥ਐਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਭਾਵਹਿ ॥

"They are not called Saints of the Lord - they are thugs of Benares. 1 Such 'saints' are not pleasing to me."(Ang 476)

Two wrongs don't make a right. Yes, Bibi Jagir Kaur murdered her daughter in an honour killing. This is totally wrong and she was removed as SGPC President. Also a criminal investigation was launched. Whereas Bibi Jagir Kaur murdered one person (her own daughter), these Deras, particular Ram Rahim has murdered 4 people up now (2 Sikhs and 2 journalists). In addition to this criminal cases are currently being processed which included rape, sexual slavery, exploitation and fraud. These Babas and Deras are abusing the masses and yet we focus on individual who have committed one crime?

QUOTE 5) We should give many condolences and blessings to the innocent person who was caught in this whole thing.

This is very good. We should pray for those killed. We should also realise who has killed who. If you analyze the whole saga objectively then you will know that no one person from the Dera has been murdered or raped by Sikhs. On the other hand, the Dera has initiated attacks on the Sikhs (verbally and physically) and also raped its own followers. Merely praying for people is not the actions of the Khalsa. The Khalsa should also have the courage and spirit to stand up to tyranny and injustice in whatever disguise it comes under.

QUOTE 6) We need to learn be less reactive as a community at the smallest things. This way we don't need to worry about bad press as much because people will not have ammunition against us.

If insulting Guru Gobind Singh Ji is "smallest thing" to you, then it is very shameful. Sikhs have not bad press. The bias media and vilified the innocent Sikhs protesting against a direct attack on the Sikhs. Would you also condemn the actions of Sikhs in 1978 who protested against the Nakli Nirankaris and got martyred? Learn from the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji - a Sikh will never accept insult and will always live and die with honour. If you are uncomfortable with this concept then you need to read Gurbani and re-visit Sikh history.

QUOTE 7) we hear talk of someone impersonating Guru Gobind Singh yet I fail to see how this is disrespectful when khalsa sikhs are supposed to impersonate Guru Gobind Singh ji in thought, word and deed? Also he did an Amrit ceremnoy with 7 people instead of 5. So what? He isn't asking sikhs to change their ceremonies and in a demcractic state he can practice his brand of spirituality however he chooses and wear whatever clothes he wants.

The Khalsa is the living image of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The Khalsa collectively, represented in the form of 5 Sikhs is the GURU physically. No individual Sikh is the Guru. Our actions should reflect Guru Jis. A son is the image of his father. The son aspires to follow his father in thought, word and deed. However, the son can never brag that he is his father? The son is still the son, the father is still the father.

Ram Raheem is not a religion. He is not a separate religion or anything. He says this himself. The whole stunt of pretending to prepare Amrit etc was a stunt to enrage Sikhs. His intent was to "distort" and "mock" the concepts and traditions of the Sikhs. This can never be tolerated and never has done. Look at Sikh history! Disrespect of Sikh institutions, traditions and people has never been accepted and never will!

QUOTE 8) There was some talk about someone putting a price on the head of the chief of this dera. This kind of talk is extremism and will propagate sikhi to the low depths that Muslims have and continue to take their religion to. We need to completely disassociate ourselves with people who make such statements. Also the Media has a field day when someone talks like this. Under no circumstances should our community be resorting to mass hysteria, death threats etc.

If faith and devotion is extremism then do you call cowardice and submission to humiliation faith? The Sikhs put a price on the head of Massa Rangar. Were they wrong to do this? Baba Deep Singh put a price on the head of the Mughals who attacked Darbar Sahib, is this wrong? Whoever has insulted and attempted to annihilate the Sikhs whether it is physically, mentally, or theologically has been dealt with. Please read the pavitar Bani and literature of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and you will understand the concept of Saint-Warrior and Just-War theory in the Sikh faith clearer. At the moment your views reflect that of a Dera mentality.
The media will vilify the Sikhs regardless. Burn the house of a Sikh and will he not retaliate? Kick a Sikh and will he not stand?

QUOTE 9 I think the liberal sikhs in the panel made some excellent points. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the wise words of our SikhrealizeSamaritansSikh actress regarding Sikheconomic and social empowerment. Thats the last time i think that bollywood actors are more beauty than brain!

There is only one Sikh and one Guru.

Bhai Gurdaas Ji states:

ਇਕ ਗੁਰੁ ਇਕੁ ਸਿਖੁ ਹੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਬਿਦ ਸਿਞਾਣੈ॥"

There is one Guru, and one Sikh who understands the Guru's Shabad."

Again Bhai Gurdas Ji states similarly:

ਇਕੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਇਕੁ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣਿਆ॥"

The Gurmukh understands that there is one Guru and there is one Sikh (i.e. there are not different types or degrees of being a Sikh)."

There is no such thing as liberal and conservative in the Sikh thought. Read Gurbani and read Sikh history, no such label appears. In modern times, the minds of Sikhs have been enslaved by media, politicians and social policies. Modern Sikhs themselves find it humiliating to practice and be proud of being a true Sikh. This is similar to the Jews in the early years of Nazi Germany. The supreme authority on who is a Sikh and what is Sikhi lays with Guru Granth Sahib Ji fundamentally and represented through the Guru Khalsa Panth.

Gurbani states:

He alone is a Sikh, a friend, a relative and a sibling, who walks in the Way of the Guru's Will. One who walks according to his own will, O Siblings of Destiny, suffers separation from the Lord, and shall be punished."(Ang 601)

Rahitnama Bhai Desa Singh (oral Hukam of Guru Gobind Singh Ji):

I love a Sikhs code of conduct (Rahit), not for merely by being known as a Sikh. That person who follows the discipline is known as my Sikh. He is my master and I his disciple. Without discipline you cannot call yourself a Sikh, and without discipline you will face suffering. Without discipline you will not get happiness. Thus, one should remain firm in the discipline."

One should be cautious of anti-Panthic and anti-Gurmat websites which are targeting the youth and wider Sangat through discreet Parchaar. Project Naad supports Snaatan view of Sikhi that is propagated and supported by UK Nangs and the RSS. In addition to this, the same questionable website has shown open support for the controversial UK Sikh Student Camp that has faced many issues such as promoting watered down version of Sikhi, serious allegations of misconduct with campers, over-friendliness of camp sevadars with campers, and controversial anti-panthic individuals funding the camp. Project Naads open support for Jhoot Sauda has exposed its true face.
