Sikhi and miracles

Miracles & SIKHI

A lot of Sikhs nowadays doubt a lot of Sikh history because they think it was impossible for certain things to happen. A lot of people think Baba Deep Singh Ji did not fight while his head was chopped off. They also think Guru Gobind Singh Ji did not chop off the heads of the punj pairyea (even dough history says that Guru Ji pulled out his sword and asked for a head). If you doubt this then you are saying that Guru Ji deceived his Sikhs and are indirectly calling him a lair. Plus if you believe God cannot to miracles then you have not understood Sikhi. Below I have included some bani quotes which prove God can and does do miracles.

Italy: Sikhs to pray for Indian attack victim

Rome, 5 Feb. (AKI) - The Province of Rome's Sikhs will be holding prayers on Sunday for a homeless Indian man who was brutally attacked last weekend and set on fire in the Lazio coastal town of Nettuno, two community leaders told Adnkronos International (AKI).

"We are dismayed and angry. We are certain it was a racist attack and we will be praying for him on Sunday," the president of Rome's Via Aurelia Sikh temple, Balbir Singh told AKI.

Homeless Sikh illegal immigrant Navtej Singh Sidhu is currently in Rome's St. Eugenio hospital with a fractured skull and 40 percent burns to his body.

He was hit over the head with a bottle, kicked, punched and set alight by assailants around 4 am last Sunday as he slept on a bench at Nettuno's train station. Three local youths have been arrested and charged with attempted murder over the attack.

"What happened in Nettuno was strange and could be a sign of worse times ahead," said Singh, who owns a blacksmith's business.

"When I came here, there was more respect. We are a hardworking and respectful people that wants peace," said Singh.

Like Sidhu, Singh is originally from India's northwest state of Punjab. He has lived in Italy for 20 years and said the climate has worsened for immigrants here in recent years since Italy became a destination for mass immigration.

There are around 10,000 Sikhs in Rome and 15-20,000 in the Province of Rome out of a total 25-30,000 Indians. Most are employed as labourers, mainly in agriculture.

Singh Agit, who leads the Sikh temple in the Nettuno suburb of Padiglione, agreed the attack against Sidhu was worrying. "It is the first time such an awful thing has happened to one of our lads," he told AKI.

Singh and Ajit said they are grateful to Rome's mayor, Gianni Alemanno who earlier this week on television announced that he will give Sidhu a permanent job and accommodation when he gets out of the hospital.

He is due to undergo his first skin graft on his legs on Friday. Doctors say he will require several operations and will be in the hospital for several months.

He became homeless when he lost his job as a builder's labourer four months ago after his residency permit expired.

Currently, residency permits are issued which are valid for only four to five months. It can take seven to eight months to get these renewed, meaning the new one has already expired by the time the immigrant receives it.

Singh and Ajit both urged Italy to streamline the costly and cumbersome bureaucracy which can make life doubly hard for immigrants.

Ajit went further, arguing that immigrants must have the same entitlements as Italian workers. "Italians must help immigrants," he said.

"That means making affordable accommodation available and giving them the same pay and benefits as Italians who do the same job," Ajit said.

Immigrants working as agricultural labourers in the area around Nettuno typically earn around two or three euros an hour, and to make ends meet work up to 12 hours a day, he said.

Some employers pay late, and sometimes don't pay their labourers at all, said Ajit, who has lived in Italy since 1991.

Also from Punjab, he is currently unemployed and has worked in agriculture, in a florist's and a supermarket.

He is currently seeking help from Italy's largest union CGIL in obtaining severance and sick pay from the supermarket, which fired him after he broke his leg and was off work for an extended period.

Sikhs targeted as Aussie celebrations get out of hand

10australiadaycelebrations001

Australia: Sikhs and Asians became victims of teenage racial abuse as the Australia Day celebrations took a violent turn in Sydney.

Riot police were deployed to curb the anger of young people as they allegedly hurled racial abuses at non-white shopkeepers and smashed car windows.

The brawls occurred yesterday afternoon in the Sydney suburb of Manly when nearly 80 drunken teenaged jumped on top of cars and smashed windows as they ran up and down Manly&aposs Corso.

Hundreds of youths draped in” Aussie pride “shouted abusive slogans as they smashed car windows and ran up the famous Corso targeting non-white shopkeepers, The Australian reported.

Yesterday Indians too were ironically celebrating their republican day.

A 18-year-old Asian female in one of the cars was showered with shattered glass, giving her numerous cuts to her arms, the paper said.

A sikh taxi driver was also targeted while an Asian shopkeeper was reportedly assaulted, the report said.

According to police, three cars were damaged, one 16-year-old boy was charged with assaulting police.

Sikhi and stealing

Sikhi and Stealing

A lot of youth these day, especially the wannna be Punjabi gangsters are involved in fraud. They commit credit card scams and steal other people’s money. A lot of deceit and selfish behavoiur is present amongst the young community who are out there just to get money anyway anyhow. A lot of our youth have been involved in armed robbers and drug dealing. It is sad to see when our Guru guides us in the following way:

At last an act of bravery by a Sikh (most of the time we are just mere victims)

Sikh Awarded £300 for Act of Bravery

Friday 30th of January 2009

Panthic Weekly News Bureau

LONDON, UK (KP)—People in London are wonderstruck over a recent show of courage put up by a seventy year old Sikh. Harbhajan Singh was able to successfully fend off a robber, Deryk Traylen, who tried to loot the store where Singh was working.

Traylen, thirty five years old, entered the Cost Cutter store, locked the door and pointed a gun at the face of Harbhajan Singh’s son-in-law who was standing at the counter. Harbhajan Singh was quick to hit Traylen’s arm with an iron rod which successfully disarmed him. Traylen tried to retaliate with a knife however Harbhajan Singh attacked him on his head while the two held him on the floor to ensure he did not escape. Police were also called in the meantime.

After the incident, the police lauded Harbhajan Singh’s bravery and he was also awarded 300 pounds. Harbhajan Singh said that initially he was having second thoughts about hitting Traylen as he was holding the gun—but he knew the timing was right to disarm him. According to Singh, he was concerned about his son-in-law's life and had to take action.

Sikhs Defend Gurdwara

Chandigarh, Punjab: An enraged group of devout Sikhs clashed with police in Chandigarh following the demolition of a gurudwara during an anti-encroachment drive on Friday.

The clash took place after civic authorities accompanied by a posse of policemen sought to remove encroachments from the area.

However, a crowd soon gathered at the shrine to oppose the anti-encroachment drive. They pelted stones at the police and other officials.

Consequently, the police had to fire a few rounds in the air to disperse the sangat outside the shrine.

“They started pelting stones on us. We had to stop them to control the situation. However, everything is under control now,” said Jaspal Rana, Inspector, Chandigarh.

Later, tension continued to prevail in the area as the aggrieved protestors refused to let the anti-encroachment drive be carried out.

“I was inside. They fired first. I went upstairs to see what happened. I told them that I was ready to talk. I was ready to produce documents too. How come they did not find any other unauthorised construction in entire Chandigarh except this Gurudwara?” said Sant Sarup Singh, a local leader.

Chandigarh, Punjab: Even as heads of Sikh bodies from Punjab and Chandigarh gathered here today to condemn the UT’s action at Gurdwara Santsar Sahib of Sector 38-West, politics took the centre stage as leaders of political parties reached the spot to express solidarity with the gurdwara management while criticising the incident.

Serving an ultimatum on the Chandigarh Administration, the religious leaders demanded release of six arrested followers and suspension of all officials, who fired shots and entered the gurdwara premises with their shoes yesterday.

Head of the gurdwara Baba Pritpal Singh, member of SGPC Karnail Singh Panjoli, Jathedar Takht Keshgarh Sahib Tarlochan Singh, member Damdami Taksal Sukhdev Singh, president Akali Dal Chandigarh Gurpartap Riar, president All-India Sikh Students Federation Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad were among those who supported the gurdwara management.

As the politicians took to the stage, the scene turned unsavory when SAD leader and former Mayor Harjinder Kaur objected to the speech of State Minister for Finance Pawan Bansal, who said he was not there for any false promises. The minister also gave two special coins (of Rs 10 and 100 to the gurdwara management) issued by the government on the occasion of Gurta Gaddi Divas.

But before the minister could end his speech, Harjinder Kaur opposed him for diverting the attention of the sangat from the real issue. Sensing the mood, Pawan Bansal criticised the activity of the UT administration and said two or three officials of the administration should talk to the gurdwara management before taking a big step. He also promised to the leader present there that he would talk to the senior officials of the UT administration to solve the matter.

Other leaders who voiced their concern were Harmohan Dhawan, Satpal Jain and Krishan Chander Ahuja.

Baba Sarup Singh, head of gurdwara Santsar Sahib, denied all allegations of the UT administration and said, “We are having the registry of gurdwara land and haven’t encroached even a single inch of land.”

He even stated that gurdwara followers not even fired a single bullet from inside the gurdwara and alleged that it was a plan to involve the gurdwara in this activity. The leaders decided to announce further action after the marriage of Gurpreet Singh, son of Baba Sarup Singh, scheduled for February 8.

Meanwhile, those arrested were Harnek Singh, Satbir Singh, Simranpreet Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Harbaaz Singh and BS Sondhi, have been remanded for 14 days to the judicial custody.
